13Then they took their bones, buried them under a tamarisk tree in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
11When all the people of Jabesh-Gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul, they acted.
12All the valiant men arose, took the bodies of Saul and his sons, brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak tree in Jabesh. Then they fasted for seven days.
16David said to him, 'Your blood is on your own head, because your own mouth testified against you when you said, ‘I killed the LORD's anointed.’'

2Then David said, 'I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me.' So David sent messengers to console him concerning his father. When David's servants came to the land of the Ammonites to comfort Hanun,
4When the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul and reported these matters to the people, they all wept loudly.
5Just then, Saul was coming in from the field, following the oxen. He asked, "What is wrong with the people? Why are they all crying?" They told him what the men of Jabesh had said.
1After the death of Saul, David returned from defeating the Amalekites and stayed in Ziklag for two days.
2On the third day, a man came from Saul’s camp with his clothes torn and dirt on his head. When he arrived before David, he fell to the ground and showed respect.

4He came to the sheepfolds along the way, and there was a cave. Saul went in to relieve himself, while David and his men were sitting in the innermost part of the cave.
10David said to Saul, 'Why do you listen to the words of men who say, "David seeks your harm"?'
12They mourned, wept, and fasted until evening for Saul, for Jonathan his son, for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.
5David went out and was successful in everything Saul sent him to do. Saul gave him command over the soldiers, and he was well-liked by everyone, including Saul’s officers.
16May the LORD be our judge and decide between us. May He see and plead my case and vindicate me from your hand.
17When David finished speaking these words to Saul, Saul asked, 'Is that your voice, my son David?' And Saul wept aloud.
18He said to David, 'You are more righteous than I, for you have treated me well, but I have treated you badly.'
57As soon as David returned from killing the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul, with the Philistine's head still in his hand.
7But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among those who eat at your table, for they supported me when I fled from your brother Absalom.
2"In the past, even when Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them back. And the LORD said to you, ‘You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.’”
22Then Saul sent word to Jesse, saying, "Allow David to remain in my service, for he has found favor in my sight."
31The king said to him, 'Do as he says. Strike him down and bury him, and so remove from me and my father's house the guilt of the blood that Joab shed without cause.
3David asked the Gibeonites, "What can I do for you? How can I make atonement so that you may bless the Lord’s inheritance?"
12So David commanded his young men, and they killed them. They cut off their hands and feet and hung their bodies by the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth and buried it in Abner's tomb in Hebron.
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD. They anointed David king over Israel, as the LORD had said through Samuel.
31When David's words were heard, they were reported to Saul, and he sent for him.
