This is a perpetual ordinance for your generations, but they shall not have any inheritance among the Israelites. 24 For I have given the Levites the tithes that the Israelites present as a contribution to the LORD as their inheritance. That is why I told them they shall have no inheritance among the Israelites.

They brought a great amount, a tithe of everything. 6 The people of Israel and Judah who were living in the cities of Judah also brought a tithe of their herds and flocks, and of the holy things dedicated to the Lord their God. They piled them in heaps. 7 In the third month, they began to lay the heaps, and they finished in the seventh month. 8 When Hezekiah and the officials came and saw the heaps, they praised the Lord and blessed His people Israel. 9 Hezekiah questioned the priests and Levites about the heaps. 10 Azariah, the chief priest from the family of Zadok, answered, 'Since the people began to bring their contributions to the house of the Lord, we have had enough to eat and plenty to spare, because the Lord has blessed His people; this great amount is what is left over.'
  • Neh 12:44-47 : 44 On that day, men were appointed to oversee the storerooms for contributions, firstfruits, and tithes. They gathered the portions assigned for the priests and Levites from the fields around the towns, because Judah rejoiced over the priests and Levites who stood in service. 45 They performed the service of their God and the service of purification, along with the singers and gatekeepers, as commanded by David and Solomon his son. 46 For long ago, in the days of David and Asaph, there were leaders of the singers and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God. 47 In the days of Zerubbabel and Nehemiah, all Israel provided daily portions for the singers and gatekeepers. They also set apart what was holy for the Levites, and the Levites set apart what was holy for the descendants of Aaron.
