    20He also instructed the second, the third, and all those who followed the herds: 'This is what you are to say to Esau when you meet him.'

    21You are to say, 'Your servant Jacob is behind us.' For he thought, 'I will appease him with the gift that goes ahead of me. After I see him, perhaps he will accept me.'
