    20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, Latin, and Greek.

    21 The chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, "Do not write, 'The King of the Jews,' but that this man said, 'I am the King of the Jews.'"

    23 When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his garments and divided them into four parts, one for each soldier. They also took the tunic, which was seamless, woven from top to bottom.

    24 So they said to one another, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots to decide whose it shall be." This happened so that the Scripture might be fulfilled that says, "They divided my garments among themselves, and for my clothing they cast lots." So this is what the soldiers did.
