    18When they entered Micah's house and took the carved image, the ephod, the household gods, and the cast idol, the priest said to them, 'What are you doing?'

    19They answered him, 'Be quiet! Put your hand over your mouth and come with us. Be a father and a priest to us. Isn’t it better for you to be a priest for a tribe and a clan in Israel rather than for one man's household?'

    20The priest was glad in his heart. He took the ephod, the household gods, and the carved image and went along with the people.

    1There was a man from the hill country of Ephraim whose name was Micah.

    2He said to his mother, 'The eleven hundred pieces of silver that were taken from you, about which you uttered a curse and even spoke it in my hearing—look, the silver is with me; I took it.' And his mother said, 'May the LORD bless my son!'

    3Then he returned the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said, 'I hereby consecrate this silver to the LORD for my son, to make a carved image and a cast idol. I will now return it to you.'

    4So when he returned the silver to his mother, she took two hundred pieces of silver and gave them to a silversmith, who made them into a carved image and a cast idol. And they were placed in Micah's house.

    5Now this man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and household idols, and he consecrated one of his sons to become his priest.

    36Everyone left of your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver or a loaf of bread, and they will plead, ‘Please appoint me to some priestly office so I can have a morsel of bread to eat.’

  • 18The man answered, "We are traveling from Bethlehem in Judah to the remote parts of the hill country of Ephraim, where I am from. I have been to Bethlehem in Judah, and I am going to the house of the Lord, but no one has taken me into their home.

  • 27The Danites took what Micah had made, along with his priest, and came to Laish, to a peaceful and unsuspecting people. They struck them down with the sword and burned the city with fire.
