Then he asked Zebah and Zalmunna, 'What kind of men did you kill at Tabor?' They answered, 'They were like you—each one resembling the son of a king.'

16 He then took the elders of the city, along with thorns and briers from the wilderness, and used them to teach the men of Succoth a lesson.
17 He also tore down the tower of Penuel and killed the men of the city.

9 So he said to the men of Penuel, 'When I return in peace, I will tear down this tower.'
10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor with their army, about fifteen thousand men, all that was left of the army of the sons of the east. One hundred twenty thousand sword-wielding men had fallen.

16 Now, if you acted faithfully and sincerely in making Abimelech king, and if you have treated Jerubbaal and his family well, and if you have repaid him in accordance with what he did for you—
17 'because my father fought for you, risked his life, and delivered you from the hand of Midian—'
18 but today you have risen up against my father’s house and killed his seventy sons on one stone, and made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the leaders of Shechem, because he is your brother—
27 The people repeated to him what they had been saying: 'This is what will be done for the man who kills him.'
8 Among the slain, they killed the kings of Midian: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba—the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword.

9 He said to me, 'Please stand over me and kill me, for I am in agony and my life still lingers in me.'

11 He said, 'This is what the king who will reign over you will demand: He will take your sons and assign them to his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots.
