  • Ps 102:1-9 : 1 A prayer of an afflicted person, when they are overwhelmed and pour out their complaint before the LORD. 2 LORD, hear my prayer, and let my cry for help come to you. 3 Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress; incline your ear to me; on the day I call, answer me quickly. 4 For my days vanish like smoke, and my bones are burned like a hearth. 5 My heart is afflicted and withered like grass, for I forget to eat my food. 6 Because of my groaning, my bones cling to my flesh. 7 I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins. 8 I lie awake; I am like a lonely bird on a housetop. 9 All day long my enemies taunt me; those who ridicule me use my name as a curse. 10 For I eat ashes as my food and mix my drink with tears. 11 Because of your wrath and indignation, for you have lifted me up and thrown me aside. 12 My days are like a shadow that lengthens, and I wither away like grass. 13 But you, LORD, are enthroned forever, and your name endures to all generations. 14 You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show her favor; the appointed time has come. 15 For your servants delight in her stones and show favor to her dust. 16 The nations will fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth your glory. 17 For the LORD has rebuilt Zion and has appeared in his glory. 18 The LORD has turned to the prayer of the destitute and has not despised their prayer. 19 Let this be written for a future generation, so that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD. 20 For he looked down from his holy height; from heaven the LORD observed the earth, 21 to hear the groans of the prisoners and to set free those condemned to death, 22 so that the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem, 23 when peoples and kingdoms gather together to serve the LORD. 24 He has afflicted my strength in the way; he has shortened my days. 25 I say, 'My God, do not take me away in the midst of my days, your years endure through all generations.' 26 Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. 27 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them, and they will be discarded. 28 But you are the same, and your years will never end.
