  • Jer 36:1-6 : 1 In the fourth year of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying: 2 Take a scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah, and all the nations, from the days of Josiah until today. 3 Perhaps the house of Judah will hear about all the disaster I intend to bring upon them, so that each one may turn from his wicked way. Then I will forgive their iniquity and their sin. 4 So Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote on the scroll from Jeremiah’s dictation all the words that the LORD had spoken to him. 5 Jeremiah then commanded Baruch, saying, "I am detained; I cannot go to the house of the LORD. 6 But you, go and read aloud from the scroll, which you have written at my dictation, the words of the LORD in the hearing of the people in the house of the LORD on a day of fasting. Also read them in the hearing of all Judah, who come from their cities.
  • Jer 36:20-24 : 20 After they put the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the secretary, they went to the king in the courtyard and reported all these words to him. 21 The king sent Jehudi to get the scroll. Jehudi brought it from the chamber of Elishama the secretary and read it aloud to the king and all the officials standing by him. 22 Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, and a firepot was burning in front of him. 23 As Jehudi read three or four columns of the scroll, the king would cut them off with a scribe’s knife and throw them into the fire in the firepot, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire. 24 Neither the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words were afraid or tore their garments in sorrow.
  • Jer 36:27-32 : 27 After the king burned the scroll containing the words Baruch had written at Jeremiah’s dictation, the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: 28 "Take another scroll and write on it all the original words that were on the first scroll, which Jehoiakim king of Judah burned. 29 And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, ‘This is what the LORD says: You burned this scroll, saying, “Why did you write on it that the king of Babylon will surely come and destroy this land and leave it without people or animals?”’ 30 Therefore, this is what the LORD says about Jehoiakim king of Judah: He will have no one to sit on the throne of David, and his dead body will be thrown out to the heat by day and to the frost by night. 31 I will punish him, his descendants, and his servants for their iniquity. I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the people of Judah, all the disaster I have pronounced against them, because they have not listened to me. 32 Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch son of Neriah, the scribe, who wrote on it at Jeremiah’s dictation all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many more similar words were added to them.

Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed and is able to open the scroll and its seven seals." 6 Then I saw a Lamb, standing as though it had been slain, in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders. It had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 The Lamb came and took the scroll from the right hand of the one seated on the throne. 8 When he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each of them was holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals because you were slain, and with your blood, you purchased for God people from every tribe, language, people, and nation." 10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth. 11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels surrounding the throne, the living creatures, and the elders. Their number was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands. 12 In a loud voice they said: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power, and wealth, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing!" 13 Then I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and on the sea, and everything in them, saying, "To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing, honor, glory, and power forever and ever!" 14 The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped the one who lives forever and ever.

He said to me, 'Take it and eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth, it will be sweet as honey.' 10 I took the small scroll from the angel's hand and ate it. It was as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter. 11 And he told me, 'You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.'
