9So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat on a seat by a doorpost of the temple of the LORD.
10And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD, and wept greatly.
11And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your maidservant, and remember me, and not forget your maidservant, but will give your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.
12And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli watched her mouth.
13Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she was drunk.
22But Hannah did not go up; for she said to her husband, I will not go up until the child is weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide forever.
23And Elkanah her husband said to her, Do what seems good to you; wait until you have weaned him; only let the LORD establish his word. So the woman remained at home and nursed her son until she weaned him.
24And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.
14She may not eat of anything that comes from the vine, nor let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.
4Now therefore beware, I pray you, and drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat no unclean thing:
11Harlotry and wine and new wine take away the heart.
5Awake, you drunkards, and weep; and howl, all you drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.
21Therefore hear now this, you afflicted, and drunk, but not with wine:
7But he said to me, Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.
14And when Eli heard the noise of the outcry, he said, What does the noise of this tumult mean? And the man came in hastily and told Eli.
26And she said, Oh my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman that stood by you here, praying to the LORD.

13And as for me, where could I cause my shame to go? And as for you, you would be like one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king, for he will not withhold me from you.
