And now you think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and you are a great multitude, and with you are golden calves, which Jeroboam made for you to be gods.

9But have done evil above all that were before you: for you have gone and made for yourself other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back:
2And now they sin more and more, and have made molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.
3Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
4Thus says the LORD, You shall not go up nor fight against your brethren. Return every man to his house, for this thing is of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD and returned from going against Jeroboam.

33After this, Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way, but made again from among all the people priests of the high places: whoever desired, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
34And this thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, to cut it off and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.

20And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come again, they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel; there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

2And you shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars: but you have not obeyed my voice: why have you done this?
7And he set up the carved image of the Asherah he had made, in the house of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, 'In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever:'
8Nevertheless they shall be his servants, that they may know my service and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.
