21Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from him a safe journey for us, our little ones, and all our goods.
22For I was ashamed to request from the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to protect us against the enemy on the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek him; but his power and his wrath are against all who forsake him.
6And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
7Then I consulted with myself and rebuked the nobles and rulers, and said to them, You are charging interest, each one from his brother. And I called a great assembly against them.
8And it happened, while they were killing them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! Will you destroy all the remnant of Israel in your pouring out of your fury upon Jerusalem?
25Then I spoke to those of the captivity all the things that the LORD had shown me.

7And I did so as I was commanded: I brought out my belongings by day, as belongings for captivity, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my hand; I brought them out at twilight, and I bore them on my shoulder in their sight.
24Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,
25And weighed out to them the silver, the gold, and the vessels, the offering for the house of our God, which the king, his counselors, his lords, and all Israel present had offered:
10Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that His fierce wrath may turn away from us.
6Then the king's face changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his hips were loosened, and his knees knocked against each other.
15And I gathered them together by the river that flows to Ahava; and there we stayed in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.
22Now the hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening, before the one who had escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no longer mute.
