- Gen 29:32-35 : 32 And Leah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben; for she said, Surely the LORD has looked upon my affliction; now my husband will love me. 33 And she conceived again and bore a son and said, Because the LORD has heard that I was unloved, He has therefore given me this son also; and she called his name Simeon. 34 And she conceived again and bore a son and said, Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons; therefore his name was called Levi. 35 And she conceived again and bore a son and said, Now I will praise the LORD; therefore she called his name Judah; and she stopped bearing.
- Gen 30:17-21 : 17 God listened to Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son. 18 Leah said, "God has given me my wages because I have given my maid to my husband." She named him Issachar. 19 Leah conceived again and bore Jacob a sixth son. 20 Leah said, "God has endowed me with a good dowry; now my husband will dwell with me because I have born him six sons." She named him Zebulun. 21 Afterwards, she bore a daughter and named her Dinah.
- Gen 34:1-9 : 1 And Dinah, the daughter of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. 2 And when Shechem, the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her. 3 And his soul was drawn to Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young woman and spoke kindly to her. 4 And Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, Get me this young woman as a wife. 5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah, his daughter. Now his sons were with his livestock in the field, and Jacob held his peace until they came. 6 And Hamor, the father of Shechem, went out to Jacob to speak with him. 7 And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it, and they were grieved and very wroth because he had wrought folly in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter, a thing that ought not to be done. 8 And Hamor spoke with them, saying, My son Shechem longs for your daughter; I pray you give her to him as a wife. 9 And make marriages with us, and give your daughters to us, and take our daughters for yourselves. 10 And you shall dwell with us, and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade therein, and acquire possessions there. 11 And Shechem said to her father and to her brothers, Let me find grace in your eyes, and whatever you say to me, I will give. 12 Ask me for ever so much dowry and gift, and I will give according to your saying to me, but give me the young woman as a wife. 13 And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, because he had defiled Dinah, their sister, 14 And they said to them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised, for that would be a reproach to us. 15 But in this will we consent unto you: If you will become as we are, that every male of you be circumcised, 16 Then will we give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people. 17 But if you will not listen to us, to be circumcised, then we will take our daughter and leave. 18 And their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor's son. 19 And the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he delighted in Jacob's daughter, and he was more honorable than all the house of his father. 20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gate of their city and spoke to the men of their city, saying, 21 These men are peaceable with us, therefore let them dwell in the land and trade therein, for the land, indeed, is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us as wives, and let us give them our daughters. 22 Only in this will the men consent to dwell with us, to become one people, if every male among us is circumcised as they are circumcised. 23 Will not their livestock and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? Only let us consent to them, and they will dwell with us. 24 And all who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor and Shechem his son, and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city. 25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, took each man his sword and came upon the city boldly and slew all the males. 26 And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house and left. 27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain and plundered the city because they had defiled their sister. 28 They took their sheep, their oxen, and their donkeys, and what was in the city and what was in the field. 29 And all their wealth, all their little ones, and their wives they took captive, and they plundered even all that was in the houses. 30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, You have troubled me by making me despised among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and I, being few in number, they will gather together against me and slay me, and I shall be destroyed, I and my household. 31 And they said, Should he treat our sister as a harlot?

- Gen 49:3-9 : 3 Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power. 4 Unstable as water, you shall not excel, because you went up to your father's bed; then you defiled it: he went up to my couch. 5 Simeon and Levi are brothers; instruments of cruelty are in their dwellings. 6 O my soul, do not come into their secret; to their assembly, my honor, do not be united: for in their anger they killed a man, and in their self-will they tore down a wall. 7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel. 8 Judah, you are he whom your brothers shall praise: your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father's children shall bow down before you. 9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, you have gone up: he stooped down, he crouched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? 10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to him shall the gathering of the people be. 11 Binding his foal to the vine, and his donkey's colt to the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes. 12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk. 13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be a haven for ships; and his border shall be to Zidon. 14 Issachar is a strong donkey lying down between two burdens. 15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant to tribute.

21 Those who were numbered from them, even from the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand five hundred. 22 From the children of Simeon, by their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, those who were numbered from them, according to the number of names, by head count, every male from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war; 31 Those who were numbered from them, even from the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred. 32 From the children of Joseph, namely, from the children of Ephraim, by their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war; 33 Those who were numbered from them, even from the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand five hundred. 34 From the children of Manasseh, by their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war; 35 Those who were numbered from them, even from the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand two hundred. 36 From the children of Benjamin, by their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war; 43 Those who were numbered from them, even from the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand four hundred. 44 These are those who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, along with the leaders of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers. 45 Thus all those who were numbered of the children of Israel, by their fathers' houses, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war in Israel; 46 All who were numbered were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty. 47 But the Levites, by their fathers' tribe, were not numbered among them. 48 For the LORD had spoken to Moses, saying, 49 Only you shall not number the tribe of Levi, nor take a census of them among the children of Israel; 50 But you shall appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all its vessels, and over all things that belong to it: they shall carry the tabernacle, and all its vessels; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp around the tabernacle. 51 And when the tabernacle is set out, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up: and the outsider who comes near shall be put to death. 52 And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their armies. 53 But the Levites shall encamp around the tabernacle of testimony, so that no wrath may come upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of testimony. 54 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so they did.
- Num 10:1-9 : 1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 Make two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece you shall make them: that you may use them for calling the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps. 3 And when they blow them, all the assembly shall gather themselves to you at the entrance of the tabernacle of meeting. 4 And if they blow with one trumpet, then the princes, the leaders of the thousands of Israel, shall gather to you. 5 When you blow an alarm, then the camps that are on the east side shall go forward. 6 When you blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that are on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys. 7 But when the congregation is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm. 8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and they shall be for you an ordinance forever throughout your generations. 9 And if you go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresses you, then you shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and you shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and you shall be saved from your enemies. 10 Also on the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and at the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be a memorial for you before your God: I am the LORD your God. 11 And it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle of the testimony. 12 And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran. 13 And they first set out according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses. 14 In the first position went the standard of the camp of the children of Judah according to their armies: and over his host was Nahshon the son of Amminadab. 15 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethaneel the son of Zuar. 16 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon. 17 And the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set forward, carrying the tabernacle. 18 And the standard of the camp of Reuben set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elizur the son of Shedeur. 19 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai. 20 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel. 21 And the Kohathites set forward, carrying the sanctuary: and the others set up the tabernacle before they arrived. 22 And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elishama the son of Ammihud. 23 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. 24 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni. 25 And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan set forward, which was the rear guard of all the camps throughout their hosts: and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. 26 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran. 27 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan. 28 Thus were the journeys of the children of Israel according to their armies, when they set forward. 29 And Moses said to Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, We are journeying to the place which the LORD said, I will give it to you: come with us, and we will do you good: for the LORD has spoken good concerning Israel. 30 And he said to him, I will not go; but I will depart to my own land, and to my kindred. 31 And he said, Do not leave us, I pray you; for you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and you may be to us instead of eyes. 32 And it shall be, if you go with us, yes, it shall be, that whatever good the LORD shall do to us, the same we will do to you. 33 And they departed from the mount of the LORD, a three days' journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days' journey, to search out a resting place for them. 34 And the cloud of the LORD was upon them by day, when they went out of the camp. 35 And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let Your enemies be scattered; and let those who hate You flee before You. 36 And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, to the many thousands of Israel.
