You will be uprooted from the land you are entering to possess. 64 Then the LORD will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will serve other gods—gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known. 65 Among those nations, you will find no peace, and no resting place for the sole of your foot. There the LORD will give you an anxious heart, failing eyes, and a despairing soul. 66 Your life will hang in doubt before you. You will be filled with fear night and day, and you will not be sure of your life. 67 In the morning you will say, ‘If only it were evening!’ and in the evening you will say, ‘If only it were morning!’ because of the terror that will fill your hearts and the sights your eyes will see. 68 The LORD will bring you back to Egypt in ships, in the way I said you would never see again. There, you will sell yourselves to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you.

Why this fierce, burning anger?' 24 And they will answer, 'It is because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their ancestors, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt. 25 They turned to other gods and worshiped and bowed down to them, gods they did not know and gods the LORD had not given to them.' 26 Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against this land, bringing upon it every curse written in this book. 27 In His anger and great wrath, the LORD uprooted them from their land and cast them into another land, as it is today. 28 The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
  • Deut 30:17-19 : 17 But if your heart turns away and you do not obey, and if you are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today that you shall surely perish and will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. 19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore, choose life, so that you and your descendants may live,
  • Deut 31:20-22 : 20 When I bring them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I swore to their ancestors, and they eat their fill and grow fat, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant. 21 And when many disasters and troubles have come upon them, this song will testify against them, for it will not be forgotten from the mouths of their descendants. For I know what they are inclined to do, even before I bring them into the land I swore to give them. 22 So Moses wrote down this song that day and taught it to the Israelites.
  • Deut 32:15-28 : 15 But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; you grew fat, thick, and bloated. Then he forsook the God who made him and treated with contempt the Rock of his salvation. 16 They made Him jealous with strange gods and provoked Him to anger with detestable practices. 17 They sacrificed to demons, not to God, to gods they had not known, to new gods that had recently appeared, gods your ancestors did not fear. 18 You ignored the Rock who begot you; you forgot the God who gave you birth. 19 The LORD saw this and despised them out of His anger at His sons and daughters. 20 He said: I will hide My face from them; I will see what their end will be, for they are a perverse generation, children in whom there is no faithfulness. 21 They made Me jealous with something that is not God; they provoked Me with their worthless idols. So I will make them jealous with those who are not a nation; I will provoke them with a foolish nation. 22 For a fire has been kindled in My wrath, and it burns to the depths of Sheol. It consumes the earth and its produce and sets ablaze the foundations of the mountains. 23 I will heap calamities on them and expend My arrows against them. 24 Wasted by famine, consumed by burning heat and bitter destruction, I will send against them the teeth of wild animals and the venom of creatures that crawl in the dust. 25 Outside, the sword will bring bereavement, and inside, there will be terror. It will affect both the young man and the young woman, the nursing child with the gray-haired man. 26 I said I would scatter them and erase their memory from mankind, 27 but I feared the provocation of the enemy, lest their adversaries misunderstand and say, 'Our own hand has triumphed; it was not the LORD who did all this.' 28 For they are a nation void of counsel, and there is no understanding in them.
  • 1 Sam 12:15 : 15 But if you do not obey the LORD and rebel against His command, then the hand of the LORD will be against you, as it was against your ancestors.
  • 1 Kgs 9:6-9 : 6 'But if you or your descendants turn away from Me and do not keep My commands and statutes that I have given you, and you go and serve other gods and bow down to them, 7 then I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them, and I will reject this temple I have consecrated for My name. Israel will then become a proverb and an object of ridicule among all peoples. 8 And this temple, now exalted, will become a heap of ruins. Everyone who passes by it will be appalled and will hiss, saying, 'Why has the LORD done this to this land and this temple?' 9 And the people will answer, 'Because they abandoned the LORD their God, who brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and they embraced other gods, worshiped them, and served them. That is why the LORD brought all this disaster on them.'
  • 2 Kgs 17:5-8 : 5 Then the king of Assyria invaded the whole land, went up to Samaria, and besieged it for three years. 6 In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and deported the Israelites to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, along the Habor River, and in the cities of Media. 7 This happened because the Israelites sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. They worshiped other gods. 8 They followed the practices of the nations whom the Lord had driven out before the Israelites, as well as the practices of the kings of Israel that they themselves had introduced.
  • 2 Kgs 18:9-9 : 9 In the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah, king of Israel, Shalmaneser king of Assyria marched against Samaria and besieged it. 10 At the end of three years, they captured it. So in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken. 11 The king of Assyria carried Israel into exile to Assyria, and he settled them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. 12 This happened because they did not obey the voice of the LORD their God but violated His covenant—all that Moses, the servant of the LORD, had commanded. They neither listened nor carried it out.
  • 2 Kgs 24:1-4 : 1 During Jehoiakim's reign, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant for three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him. 2 The LORD sent against him bands of Chaldeans, Arameans, Moabites, and Ammonites. He sent them to destroy Judah, fulfilling the word of the LORD spoken through His servants, the prophets. 3 Surely this came upon Judah by the command of the LORD, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh and all he had done. 4 And also because of the innocent blood that he had shed, for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the LORD was unwilling to pardon.
