- Judg 14:10-18 : 10 His father went down to the woman, and Samson prepared a feast there, as was customary for young men. 11 When the people saw him, they brought thirty companions to be with him. 12 Samson said to them, 'Let me now pose a riddle to you. If you can tell me the answer within the seven days of the feast and solve it, I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty sets of clothing. 13 But if you cannot solve it, then you must give me thirty linen garments and thirty sets of clothing.' And they said to him, 'Pose your riddle, and we will hear it.' 14 So he said to them, 'Out of the eater came something to eat, and out of the strong came something sweet.' But for three days they could not solve the riddle. 15 On the fourth day, they said to Samson’s wife, 'Entice your husband to tell us the riddle, or we will burn you and your father’s household with fire. Did you invite us here to impoverish us?' 16 So Samson’s wife wept before him and said, 'You only hate me; you do not love me. You have posed a riddle to my people, but you have not told me the answer.' He replied, 'I have not even told it to my father or mother; why should I tell you?' 17 She cried before him the entire seven days of the feast, and on the seventh day, he told her because she pressed him so much. Then she revealed the answer to the riddle to her people. 18 Before sunset on the seventh day, the men of the city said to him, 'What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion?' Samson replied to them, 'If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would not have solved my riddle.'
- Ruth 4:10-13 : 10 I have also acquired Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, as my wife in order to maintain the name of the deceased on his inheritance, so that his name will not disappear from among his family or from the gate of his hometown. You are witnesses today. 11 All the people who were at the gate and the elders said, 'We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is entering your home like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. May you prosper in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.' 12 May your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, through the offspring that the Lord will give you by this young woman. 13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. When he went to her, the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.
- Matt 22:2-9 : 2 The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. 3 He sent his servants to call those who had been invited to the wedding, but they refused to come. 4 Again, he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited: Look, I have prepared my banquet; my oxen and fattened animals have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.' 5 But they paid no attention and went away, one to his field, another to his business. 6 The rest seized his servants, mistreated them, and killed them. 7 The king was enraged. He sent his army, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. 8 Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding banquet is ready, but those invited were not worthy.' 9 Go therefore to the main roads, and invite everyone you find to the wedding feast. 10 So those servants went out into the roads and gathered all they found, both good and bad. The wedding hall was filled with guests.
- Matt 25:1-9 : 1 Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 But the wise ones took oil in their flasks along with their lamps. 5 When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 At midnight, there was a cry: ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise ones replied, ‘No, there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 While they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom came. Those who were ready went with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut.
- John 2:1-9 : 1 On the third day, a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus and His disciples were also invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, 'They have no more wine.' 4 Jesus said to her, 'Woman, what does this have to do with me? My time has not yet come.' 5 His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever He tells you.' 6 Nearby were six stone water jars, used for the Jewish ceremonial washing, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. 7 Jesus said to them, 'Fill the jars with water.' So they filled them to the brim. 8 Then He told them, 'Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.' So they did. 9 When the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine, not knowing where it had come from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), he called the bridegroom aside. 10 He said, 'Everyone brings out the choice wine first, and then the cheaper wine after the guests have drunk freely; but you have saved the best till now.'
