  • John 5:17-43 : 17 But Jesus answered them, 'My Father is working until now, and I too am working.' 18 Because of this, the Jews were all the more determined to kill Him, not only because He was breaking the Sabbath, but also because He was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. 19 So Jesus answered them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He only does what He sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does in the same way.' 20 'For the Father loves the Son and shows Him everything that He does. You have never heard His voice or seen His form. 38 Nor do you have His word abiding in you, because you do not believe the one He sent. 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; yet it is they that testify about me. 40 But you are unwilling to come to me so that you may have life. 41 I do not accept glory from people. 42 But I know you, that you do not have the love of God within you. 43 I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me. But if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.
