  • Jer 23:2-4 : 2 Therefore, this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says concerning the shepherds who tend My people: You have scattered My flock and driven them away, and you have not attended to them. Behold, I am about to punish you for your evil deeds, declares the LORD. 3 Then I Myself will gather the remnant of My flock from all the lands where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and multiply. 4 I will appoint shepherds over them who will care for them, and they will no longer be afraid or dismayed, nor will any be missing, declares the LORD.
  • Ezek 34:11-31 : 11 For this is what the Lord GOD says: 'Behold, I Myself will search for My flock and look after them. 12 As a shepherd looks after his scattered sheep when he is with them, so I will look after My flock. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. 13 I will bring them out from the nations, gather them from the countries, and bring them to their own land. I will shepherd them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys, and in all the inhabited places of the land. 14 I will feed them in good pasture, and their grazing land will be on the high mountains of Israel. There they will lie down in a pleasant grazing land and feed in rich pastures on the mountains of Israel. 15 I Myself will tend My flock and cause them to lie down, declares the Lord GOD. 16 I will seek the lost, bring back the scattered, bind up the injured, and strengthen the weak. But the fat and the strong I will destroy—I will shepherd them with justice. 17 As for you, My flock, this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I will judge between one sheep and another, between the rams and the male goats. 18 Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pastures? Must you also trample the rest of your pastures with your feet? Is it not enough for you to drink the clear water? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet? 19 Must My flock feed on what you have trampled and drink what you have muddied with your feet? 20 Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says to them: Behold, I Myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. 21 Because you push with your side and shoulder, and butt all the weak sheep with your horns until you have scattered them far and wide, 22 I will save My flock so they will no longer be prey. I will judge between one sheep and another. 23 I will place over them one shepherd, My servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd. 24 I, the LORD, will be their God, and My servant David will be a prince among them. I, the LORD, have spoken. 25 I will make a covenant of peace with them and rid the land of wild animals, so they may live securely in the wilderness and sleep in the forests. 26 I will make them and the areas surrounding My hill a blessing. I will send down showers in their season—showers of blessing will come. 27 The trees of the field will yield their fruit, and the land will produce its crops. They will live securely on their land and know that I am the LORD when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hands of those who enslaved them. 28 They will no longer be prey for the nations, and the beasts of the earth will not devour them. They will live securely, and no one will make them afraid. 29 I will provide them with a land renowned for its crops, and they will no longer be victims of famine in the land or bear the disgrace of the nations. 30 Then they will know that I, the LORD their God, am with them, and that they are My people—the house of Israel, declares the Lord GOD. 31 You are My sheep, the sheep of My pasture, and I am your God, declares the Lord GOD.
  • Luke 15:4-6 : 4 What man among you, who has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully places it on his shoulders. 6 And coming home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.'
  • John 10:11-42 : 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired worker, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, abandons the sheep, and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters them. 13 The hired worker runs away because he is a hired worker and does not care about the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me. 15 Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father, I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheepfold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. Then there will be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The Father loves me because I lay down my life so that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have the authority to lay it down and the authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father. 19 Again, there was division among the Jews because of these words. 20 Many of them were saying, 'He has a demon and is insane. Why listen to him?' 21 Others were saying, 'These are not the words of someone possessed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?' 22 Then the Festival of Dedication took place in Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was walking in the temple courts, in Solomon's Colonnade. 24 The Jews gathered around him and said, 'How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.' 25 Jesus answered them, 'I told you, and you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one. 31 Again, the Jews picked up stones to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, 'I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these works are you stoning me?' 33 The Jews answered him, 'We are not stoning you for a good work, but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.' 34 Jesus answered them, 'Is it not written in your Law: "I have said you are gods"?' 35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be broken— 36 what about the one whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’? 37 If I do not do the works of my Father, do not believe me. 38 But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father. 39 Once again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp. 40 Then he went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing earlier, and he remained there. 41 Many people came to him and said, 'Though John never performed a sign, all that he said about this man was true.' 42 And many believed in him there.
