  • Rev 16:1-9 : 1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, 'Go and pour out the bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.' 2 The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. 3 The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died. 4 The third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. 5 Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say, 'You are righteous, Lord, the one who is, and who was, and who is to come, because you have judged these things.' 6 For they shed the blood of your holy people and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve. 7 And I heard the altar respond, 'Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are your judgments.' 8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. 9 They were scorched by the intense heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues. But they refused to repent and glorify him. 10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony, 11 and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and sores, but they refused to repent of their deeds. 12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits that looked like frogs coming out of the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. 14 They are demonic spirits performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world to gather them for battle on the great day of God Almighty. 15 Look, I am coming like a thief! • Isa 13:1-9 : 1 The burden against Babylon which Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw. 2 Lift up a banner on a bare hill; shout to them. Wave your hand so they may enter the gates of the nobles. 3 I have commanded My consecrated ones; I have also summoned My mighty ones, those who exult in My majesty, to carry out My anger. 4 Listen! A tumult on the mountains, like that of a great multitude. Listen! An uproar of kingdoms, of nations gathering together. The LORD of Hosts is mustering an army for battle. 5 They come from a distant land, from the ends of the heavens—the LORD and the weapons of His wrath—to destroy the whole earth. 6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty. 7 Because of this, every hand will go limp and every human heart will melt with fear. 8 They will be terrified; pain and anguish will grip them. They will writhe like a woman in labor. They will look at each other in dismay, their faces aflame. 9 See, the day of the LORD is coming—a cruel day with wrath and fierce anger—to make the land desolate and to destroy the sinners within it. 10 The stars of heaven and their constellations will not give their light. The sun will be darkened as it rises, and the moon will not shine its light. 11 I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the proud and humble the pride of the ruthless. 12 I will make people scarcer than fine gold, and mankind rarer than the gold of Ophir. 13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will shake from its place at the wrath of the LORD of Hosts, on the day of His fierce anger. 14 Like a hunted gazelle, like sheep without a shepherd, each will return to his own people, each will flee to his own land. 15 Whoever is found will be pierced through, and whoever is caught will fall by the sword. 16 Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be plundered, and their wives will be violated. 17 Behold, I am stirring up the Medes against them, who do not value silver and have no delight in gold. 18 Their bows will strike down the young men; they will show no mercy to the offspring of the womb, nor will they pity children. 19 Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the glory of the pride of the Chaldeans, will be like Sodom and Gomorrah when God overthrew them. 20 It will never be inhabited or lived in through all generations; no Arab will pitch his tent there, and no shepherds will let their flocks lie down there. 21 But desert creatures will lie there; their houses will be full of howling creatures. Owls will dwell there, and goat-demons will dance there. 22 Hyenas will cry in its towers, and jackals in its luxurious palaces. Her time is near to come, and her days will not be prolonged.

Go up, Elam! Surround, Media! I have put an end to all her groaning. 3 Therefore my body is filled with trembling; pangs have seized me, like the pangs of a woman in labor. I am bent over by what I heard; I am dismayed by what I saw. 4 My heart staggers; terror overwhelms me. The twilight I longed for has been turned into trembling for me. 5 Prepare the table, set a watchman in the watchtower, eat and drink. Rise up, you princes, and anoint the shield! 6 For this is what the Lord said to me: 'Go, station a watchman, and let him report what he sees.' 7 When he sees chariots with pairs of horsemen, riders on donkeys, riders on camels, let him carefully listen, paying close attention. 8 Then he called out, 'Lion! My Lord, I stand continually on the watchtower by day, and I stay at my guard post through all the nights.' 9 And behold, here comes a chariot of men, with pairs of horsemen. And he answered, saying, 'Fallen, fallen is Babylon! All the carved images of her gods are shattered to the ground.' 10 O my threshed people and my people crushed on the threshing floor, what I have heard from the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, I have declared to you. 11 This is a prophecy concerning Dumah: Someone is calling to me from Seir, saying, 'Watchman, what is left of the night? Watchman, how much of the night has passed?' 12 The watchman replies, 'Morning is coming, but also the night. If you want to inquire, inquire. Come back again.' 13 This is a prophecy about Arabia: You will camp in the thickets of Arabia, O caravans of Dedanites. 14 Bring water to the thirsty, you inhabitants of the land of Tema; bring bread for the fugitives. 15 For they fled from swords, from drawn swords, from bent bows, and from the severity of battle. 16 For this is what the Lord said to me: 'In one year, as if it were the years of a hired worker, all the glory of Kedar will come to an end.' 17 And the remaining number of the archers, the warriors of the sons of Kedar, will be few, for the LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken.
  • Isa 23:1-9 : 1 This is a message concerning Tyre: Wail, you ships of Tarshish, for your harbor has been destroyed. The news has reached them from the land of Cyprus. 2 Be silent, you inhabitants of the coastland, you merchants of Sidon, whose messengers cross over the sea. 3 On the great waters came the grain of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, its revenue; it was the marketplace of nations. 4 Be ashamed, Sidon, for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying, 'I have neither labored nor given birth; I have not raised young men or brought up virgins.' 5 When the news reaches Egypt, they will writhe in anguish at the report about Tyre. 6 Cross over to Tarshish; wail, you inhabitants of the coastland. 7 Is this your jubilant city, whose origins are from days long ago, whose feet carried her to settle far away? 8 Who has planned this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants were princes, whose traders were honored in the earth? 9 The LORD of Hosts has planned it, to defile the pride of all glory, to humble all who are honored on the earth. 10 Overflow your land like the Nile, O daughter of Tarshish; there is no longer any harbor restraining you. 11 He has stretched out His hand over the sea; He has made kingdoms tremble. The LORD has commanded for Canaan to be destroyed, and her strongholds laid waste. 12 He has said, 'You will no longer rejoice, O oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Rise, cross over to Cyprus; even there you will find no rest.' 13 Behold the land of the Chaldeans—this is the people that was not; Assyria established it as a refuge for wild creatures. They set up its siege towers, stripped its palaces bare, and made it a ruin. 14 Wail, you ships of Tarshish, for your stronghold is destroyed. 15 On that day, Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, the span of a king’s lifetime. At the end of seventy years, Tyre will be like the song of a prostitute. 16 Take up a harp, go about the city, you forgotten prostitute. Play skillfully, sing many songs, so that you may be remembered. 17 At the end of seventy years, the LORD will attend to Tyre. She will return to her hire and will prostitute herself to all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth. 18 Yet her merchandise and her hire will be consecrated to the LORD; it will not be stored or hoarded, but it will provide for those who live in the presence of the LORD—for abundant food and fine clothing.

  • Jer 25:29 : 29 For behold, I am bringing disaster on the city that bears my name, and will you indeed go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth, declares the LORD of Hosts.
  • Jer 46:1-9 : 1 This is the word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations. 2 Concerning Egypt: about the army of Pharaoh Neco, king of Egypt, which was at the Euphrates River in Carchemish and was defeated by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah. 3 Prepare your shields, both small and large, and march out for battle! 4 Harness the horses, and mount the riders! Take your positions with helmets on! Polish the spears, and put on your armor! 5 Why do I see them terrified, retreating? Their warriors are beaten down; they flee in haste without looking back—terror is all around! declares the Lord. 6 The swift cannot flee, nor can the strong escape. In the north, by the river Euphrates, they stumble and fall. 7 Who is this that rises like the Nile, like rivers that surge and toss about? 8 Egypt rises like the Nile, and its waters surge like rivers. It says, 'I will rise and cover the earth; I will destroy cities and their inhabitants.' 9 Charge, you horses! Drive furiously, you charioteers! Let the warriors march out—Cush and Put, wielding shields, and the Ludim, skilled in using the bow. 10 For that day belongs to the Lord, the Lord of Hosts— a day of vengeance to avenge his foes. The sword will devour until it is satisfied, till it is drunk with their blood. For the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, will hold a sacrifice in the land of the north by the Euphrates River. 11 Go up to Gilead and get balm, Virgin Daughter Egypt. But you multiply remedies in vain; there is no healing for you. 12 The nations have heard of your shame; the earth is filled with your cry. One warrior stumbles over another; both fall together. 13 This is the word that the Lord spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, coming to strike the land of Egypt. 14 Announce it in Egypt, proclaim it in Migdol; proclaim it also in Memphis and Tahpanhes: 'Take your positions and prepare yourself, for the sword has devoured those around you.' 15 Why has your strong one been swept away? He did not stand because the Lord drove him away. 16 He caused many to stumble; they fell one upon another. They said, 'Get up! Let us return to our own people and our homeland, away from the oppressing sword.' 17 'Pharaoh, king of Egypt, is nothing but noise; he has missed his opportunity,' they said. 18 As surely as I live, declares the King, whose name is the Lord of Hosts, one will come like Tabor among the mountains, like Carmel by the sea. 19 Prepare your belongings for exile, you who live in Egypt, for Memphis will become a desolation, a ruin without inhabitants. 20 Egypt is a beautiful heifer, but a stinging gadfly from the north is coming against her. 21 Even her mercenaries in her midst are like fattened calves; they too will turn and flee together. They cannot stand, for the day of their calamity has come upon them, the time of their punishment. 22 Her voice will hiss like a serpent as they advance in force; with axes they come against her, like those who cut down trees. 23 They will cut down her forest, declares the Lord, though it is dense. They are more numerous than locusts; they cannot be counted. 24 The Daughter of Egypt will be put to shame; she will be handed over to people from the north. 25 The Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: 'See, I am about to punish Amon of Thebes, Pharaoh, Egypt, her gods, her kings, Pharaoh, and those who trust in him.' 26 I will hand them over to those who want to take their lives, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and his servants. But afterward, Egypt will be inhabited again as in ancient days,' declares the Lord. 27 But as for you, my servant Jacob, do not be afraid, and do not be dismayed, Israel. For I will save you from far away and your descendants from their captivity. Jacob will return and will be at peace and secure, with no one to make him afraid. 28 Do not be afraid, my servant Jacob, declares the Lord, for I am with you. Though I will completely destroy all the nations where I have scattered you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you justly, but I will not leave you entirely unpunished.

And how can they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching?
