    2He cried out against the altar by the word of the LORD and said, 'Altar, altar! This is what the LORD says: Behold, a son will be born to the house of David; his name will be Josiah. He will sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who offer incense on you, and human bones will be burned on you.'

    3On that same day, he gave a sign, saying, 'This is the sign that the LORD has spoken: Behold, the altar will be torn apart, and the ashes on it will be poured out.'

    4When King Jeroboam heard the message from the man of God who cried out against the altar at Bethel, he stretched out his hand from the altar and said, 'Seize him!' But his hand, which he had stretched out against the man, withered so that he could not pull it back to himself.

    5The altar was also torn apart, and the ashes on it were poured out, according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.

    12Now, get up and go back to your house. When you set foot in the city, the boy will die.

    13All Israel will mourn him and bury him, for he alone of Jeroboam's family will come to the grave. He is the only one in whom the LORD, the God of Israel, found something good within the house of Jeroboam.

    14The LORD will raise up a king over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is the day! What indeed is even now happening!

    32He instituted a festival on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, like the festival held in Judah, and offered sacrifices on the altar. He did this in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves he had made. And there at Bethel he installed priests for the high places he had made.

    33On the fifteenth day of the eighth month, a month of his own choosing, he offered sacrifices on the altar he had built at Bethel. So he instituted the festival for the Israelites and went up to the altar to offer sacrifices.
