Behold, a man of God came from Judah by the word of the LORD to Bethel, and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to offer incense.

16 Josiah turned, saw the graves that were on the hill, and sent men to take the bones from the graves. He burned them on the altar and defiled it according to the word of the LORD, as the man of God had proclaimed, who had foretold these things.
17 He asked, 'What is this monument that I see?’ The men of the city replied, 'It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and proclaimed these things that you have done to the altar at Bethel.'

33 On the fifteenth day of the eighth month, a month of his own choosing, he offered sacrifices on the altar he had built at Bethel. So he instituted the festival for the Israelites and went up to the altar to offer sacrifices.
15 Then the men of Judah raised a battle cry, and as they shouted, God struck down Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
12 When the king returned from Damascus, he saw the altar, approached it, and offered sacrifices on it.
14 Jeremiah then returned from Topheth, where the LORD had sent him to prophesy, and he stood in the court of the LORD’s temple and said to all the people:

14 For the Levites left their pasturelands and their possessions and came to Judah and Jerusalem because Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them from serving as priests of the LORD.
30 This happened because of the sins Jeroboam had committed and caused Israel to commit, provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger.
6 They answered, 'A man came to meet us and said, "Go back to the king who sent you and tell him: This is what the LORD says: 'Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore, you will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will surely die.'"'
