    17When Ahab saw Elijah, he said to him, "Is that you, you troubler of Israel?"

    18Elijah replied, "I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father's house have, by abandoning the commandments of the LORD and following the Baals.

    7While Obadiah was walking along the road, Elijah met him. Obadiah recognized him, bowed to the ground, and said, "Is it really you, my lord Elijah?"

    8Elijah replied, "It is I. Go and tell your master, 'Elijah is here.'"

    9But Obadiah said, "What have I done wrong that you are handing your servant over to Ahab to be killed?"

    10"As surely as the LORD your God lives," he continued, "there is no nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to look for you. And whenever they said, 'He is not here,' he made the kingdom or nation swear that they could not find you.

    11Now you tell me, 'Go and say to your master, Elijah is here!'

    12But I, your servant, fear that if I leave, the Spirit of the LORD will carry you off to some place I don't know, and when I go to tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me. Yet I, your servant, have feared the LORD from my youth.

    21'This is what the LORD says: I am bringing disaster on you. I will sweep away your descendants and cut off every male in your household, both slave and free, in Israel.

    22I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah, because you have provoked My anger and have caused Israel to sin.'

    27When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and fasted. He lay in sackcloth and went about meekly.

    28Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

    29'Have you noticed how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself, I will not bring disaster during his lifetime; but in the days of his son, I will bring disaster on his house.'

    1After these events, there was a vineyard belonging to Naboth the Jezreelite, in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab, king of Samaria.

    2Ahab said to Naboth, 'Give me your vineyard so I can use it as a vegetable garden, because it is close to my house. In exchange, I will give you a better vineyard, or if you prefer, I will pay you its worth in silver.'

    3But Naboth said to Ahab, 'The LORD forbid that I should give you my ancestral inheritance!'

    4Ahab went home sullen and angry because of what Naboth the Jezreelite had said when he told him, 'I will not give you my inheritance.' He lay on his bed, turned his face away, and refused to eat.

    12Then Jehoram received a letter from the prophet Elijah, which said, "This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: Because you have not followed the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or the ways of Asa, king of Judah..."

    13But you followed the ways of the kings of Israel and led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into unfaithfulness, just as the house of Ahab led people into idolatry. You even killed your brothers, the members of your father's family, who were better than you.

    6He told her, 'When I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said, “Give me your vineyard for money, or if you prefer, I’ll give you another vineyard in exchange,” he replied, “I will not give you my vineyard.”'

    7Jezebel, his wife, said to him, 'Is this how you act as king over Israel? Get up, eat, and cheer up. I’ll get you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.'
