    24 And just as your life was valuable in my sight today, may my life be valued in the sight of the LORD, and may He deliver me from all distress.

    33 Blessed be your discernment, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodshed and from avenging myself with my own hand.

    34 Otherwise, as surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, who has prevented me from harming you, if you had not hurried to come to meet me, not one male belonging to Nabal would have been left alive by morning.

    13 May the LORD punish Jonathan severely if I do not inform you and send you away in peace when my father intends to harm you. May the LORD be with you as He has been with my father.

    14 But show me the loyalty of the LORD as long as I live, so that I may not die.

    15 And do not ever withdraw your kindness from my family, even when the LORD cuts off all of David’s enemies from the face of the earth.

    4 Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul, his father, saying, "The king should not sin against his servant David. He has done no wrong to you; on the contrary, his actions have greatly benefited you.

    5 He risked his life to kill the Philistine, and the LORD brought about a great victory for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. So why would you sin by shedding innocent blood by killing David without cause?
