9They said, 'Let us go up against them, for we have seen the land and it is very good. Why are you hesitating? Do not delay in going to take possession of the land!'
3Why is the LORD bringing us to this land only to fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn't it be better for us to return to Egypt?
17But we will arm ourselves quickly and go before the Israelites until we bring them to their place. Meanwhile our children will stay in fortified cities, safe from the inhabitants of the land.
21So they went up and explored the land from the Wilderness of Zin to Rehob, near Lebo-hamath.
22They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, descendants of Anak, were living. (Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

9Only do not rebel against the LORD, and do not be afraid of the people of the land, for we will devour them. Their protection is gone, and the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them.
14What's more, you haven't brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor have you given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards. Do you intend to gouge out the eyes of these men? We will not come!"
10But if they say, 'Come up to us,' we will go up, for the Lord has handed them over to us. That will be our sign.
5"I and all the people with me will approach the city, and when they come out to meet us as they did before, we will flee before them."
6"They will chase after us until we lure them away from the city, for they will say, 'They are running away from us as they did before.' So we will flee before them."
8'But my brothers who went up with me discouraged the hearts of the people, while I followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.'
11So our elders and all the inhabitants of our land told us, ‘Take provisions for the journey and go to meet them. Tell them: We are your servants; now make a treaty with us.’
28Otherwise, the land from which you brought us out will say, "The LORD was not able to bring them into the land he promised them, and because he hated them, he brought them out to kill them in the wilderness."
20They gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had promised, and Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak from it.
24They said to Joshua, "The LORD has surely given the whole land into our hands; all the inhabitants of the land are melting in fear because of us."
41Then you answered me and said, 'We have sinned against the LORD. We will go up and fight, just as the LORD our God commanded us.' So each of you strapped on his weapons of war and thought it would be easy to go up into the hill country.
42But the LORD said to me, 'Tell them, "Do not go up or fight, because I am not with you; you will be defeated by your enemies."'
1Then we turned and traveled on the road to Bashan. Og, king of Bashan, came out with all his people to confront us in battle at Edrei.
7And they said to the entire Israelite assembly, "The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good.
14Caleb expelled from there the three descendants of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the offspring of Anak.
