2 This is what the LORD of Hosts says: These people say, 'The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.'
9 The glory of this latter house will be greater than that of the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will give peace—this is the declaration of the LORD of Hosts.
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Haggai the prophet, saying:
16 Then this Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundations of the house of God in Jerusalem. And from that time until now, it has been under construction and is not yet completed.
17 And now, if it seems good to the king, let a search be made in the royal archives in Babylon to determine if a decree was indeed issued by King Cyrus to rebuild this house of God in Jerusalem. Then let the king send us his decision concerning this matter.
38 The days are coming, declares the LORD, when the city will be rebuilt for the LORD, from the Tower of Hananeel to the Corner Gate.
8 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will complete it. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you.
10 For who has despised the day of small beginnings? These seven rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD roaming throughout the whole earth.

11 You made a reservoir between the walls for the water of the old pool, but you did not look to its Maker, nor did you regard the One who formed it long ago.
19 Now set your heart and soul to seek the Lord your God. Arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy vessels of God into the house that is to be built for the name of the Lord.
9 Now plead with God to be gracious to us. Will he accept you? This offering came from your hands. How can he be pleased with you? says the LORD of Hosts.
15 Those who are far away will come and help build the temple of the LORD. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.
17 Then I said to them, "You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem is in ruins, and its gates have been burned by fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, so that we will no longer be a disgrace."
11 With praise and thanksgiving, they sang to the LORD: 'He is good; his steadfast love endures forever for Israel.' And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD because the foundation of the LORD’s house had been laid.

8 And this temple, now exalted, will become a heap of ruins. Everyone who passes by it will be appalled and will hiss, saying, 'Why has the LORD done this to this land and this temple?'
19 For this is what the LORD of Hosts says concerning the pillars, the bronze sea, the stands, and the rest of the articles that remain in this city,
9 'Though we are slaves, our God has not abandoned us in our slavery. He has shown us kindness in the sight of the kings of Persia. He has granted us new life to rebuild the house of our God and repair its ruins, and He has given us a wall of protection in Judah and Jerusalem.'
7 In the third month, they began to lay the heaps, and they finished in the seventh month.
15 So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days.
4 It will have three layers of large stone and one layer of new timber. The cost will be paid from the royal treasury.
