20 That night God came to Balaam and said, 'Since these men have come to summon you, go with them. But do only what I tell you.'
35 The angel of the LORD said to Balaam, 'Go with the men, but speak only what I tell you.' So Balaam went with Balak's officials.
36 When Balak heard that Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the Moabite city on the Arnon border, at the edge of his territory.
37 Balak said to Balaam, 'Did I not send messengers to you to summon you? Why didn’t you come to me? Am I really unable to reward you?
38 Balaam said to Balak, 'Well, I have come to you now. But I cannot say just anything. I must speak only what God puts in my mouth.'
39 Then Balaam went with Balak to Kiriath Huzoth.
5 He sent messengers to Balaam son of Beor at Pethor, which is by the river in the land of his people. They were to call him, saying, 'Look, a people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and are settling next to me.'
6 Now, please come and curse this people for me, because they are too powerful for me. Perhaps I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land. For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you curse is cursed.
7 The elders of Moab and Midian left, taking with them payment for divination. They came to Balaam and told him Balak's message.
8 Balaam said to them, 'Spend the night here, and I will bring back a word to you, as the LORD speaks to me.' So the Moabite leaders stayed with Balaam.
9 Then God came to Balaam and asked, 'Who are these men with you?'
10 Balaam said to God, 'Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, sent this message to me:
11 'Look, a people that came out of Egypt covers the face of the land. Now, come and curse them for me. Perhaps I will be able to fight against them and drive them out.'
12 But God said to Balaam, 'Do not go with them. You must not curse the people, for they are blessed.'
13 The next morning, Balaam got up and said to Balak’s officials, 'Go back to your own country, for the LORD has refused to let me go with you.'
14 So the Moabite leaders returned to Balak and said, 'Balaam refused to come with us.'
7 Then Balaam uttered his oracle and said: 'From Aram Balak brought me, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains: "Come, curse Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel."'
41 The next morning, Balak took Balaam and brought him up to Bamoth-baal, from where he could see the outskirts of the people.
26 But Balaam replied, 'Didn’t I tell you that I must do whatever the LORD says?'
27 Then Balak said to Balaam, 'Come, let me take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God to let you curse them for me from there.'
15 Balaam said to Balak, 'Stay here beside your burnt offering while I meet the LORD over there.'
16 The LORD met with Balaam and put a message in his mouth, saying, 'Return to Balak and speak these words.'
17 So Balaam returned to Balak, who was standing beside his burnt offering with the officials of Moab. Balak asked him, 'What did the LORD say?'
18 Then Balaam proclaimed his oracle, saying: 'Stand up, Balak, and listen; hear me, son of Zippor!'
3 He began his oracle, saying: 'The oracle of Balaam, son of Beor, the oracle of the man whose eye is opened.'
11 Balak said to Balaam, 'What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but you have done nothing but bless them!'
12 He answered, 'Must I not speak what the LORD puts in my mouth?'
13 Then Balak said to him, 'Please come with me to another place where you can see them. You will see only a part of them, not all of them. From there, curse them for me.'
14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision concerns the days yet to come.
5 My people, remember what Balak king of Moab devised and what Balaam son of Beor answered him, from Shittim to Gilgal, so that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.

9 Then Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, set out to fight against Israel. He sent for Balaam son of Beor to curse you.
10 But I would not listen to Balaam. Instead, he blessed you again and again, and I delivered you from his hand.
17 I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob, a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the foreheads of Moab and destroy all the sons of Sheth.
4 But now, behold, I have freed you today from the chains that were on your hands. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will look after you. But if it seems bad to you to come with me to Babylon, then do not come. Look, the whole land is before you. Go to whatever place seems good and right to you.'
12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.'
