For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been established by God. 2 Therefore, whoever resists authority is resisting what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will receive its approval. 4 For the ruler is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not carry the sword in vain. He is God's servant, an avenger who carries out wrath on the wrongdoer.

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let all of us who are mature think this way. And if in anything you think differently, that too God will reveal to you.
