Go and approach King David, and say to him, Did you not, my lord, O king, swear to your servant, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? Why then does Adonijah reign?

19Bathsheba therefore went to King Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne, and had a seat set for the king's mother; and she sat at his right hand.
20Then she said, I desire one small petition of you; please do not deny me. And the king said to her, Ask on, my mother, for I will not refuse you.
21And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother as his wife.
22And King Solomon answered and said to his mother, And why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also; for he is my elder brother—for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.
23Then King Solomon swore by the Lord, saying, God do so to me, and more, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life.
24Now therefore, as the Lord lives, who has established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house, as He promised, Adonijah shall be put to death today.
42And while he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said to him, Come in, for you are a valiant man and bring good news.
43And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily, our lord King David has made Solomon king.
44And the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule.
14Behold, while you yet speak there with the king, I also will come in after you, and confirm your words.
13And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Do you come peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.

33The king also said to them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.
46And also Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.
47Moreover, the king's servants came to bless our lord King David, saying, May God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.
15Now therefore I have come to speak of this thing to my lord the king, because the people have made me afraid: and your maidservant said, I will now speak to the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his maidservant.
16For the king will hear, to deliver his maidservant from the hand of the man who would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.
42And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, Did I not make you swear by the Lord, and warned you, saying, Know for certain, on the day you go out and walk abroad anywhere, that you shall surely die? And you said to me, The word I have heard is good.
43Why then have you not kept the oath of the Lord, and the commandment that I have charged you with?
8And Solomon said to God, You have shown great mercy to David my father, and have made me to reign in his place.
37As the LORD has been with my lord the king, so may He be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.
12Then the woman said, Let your maidservant, I pray you, speak one word to my lord the king. And he said, Speak on.
16Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father what you have promised him, saying, There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that your children take heed to their way to walk in my law, as you have walked before me.
17David also commanded all the leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,
19And the king said, Is not the hand of Joab with you in all this? And the woman answered and said, As your soul lives, my lord the king, no one can turn to the right hand or to the left from anything that my lord the king has spoken: for your servant Joab, he commanded me, and he put all these words in the mouth of your maidservant:
