31Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord King David live forever.
32And King David said, Call Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada to me. And they came before the king.
33The king also said to them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.
34And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there as king over Israel, and blow the trumpet, and say, God save King Solomon.
35Then you shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my place; and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
13And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Do you come peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.
14He said moreover, I have something to say unto you. And she said, Speak on.
16And now I ask one request of you, do not deny me. And she said unto him, Speak on.
17And he said, Please speak to King Solomon, for he will not refuse you, that he would give me Abishag the Shunammite as a wife.
18And Bathsheba said, Very well; I will speak for you to the king.
19Bathsheba therefore went to King Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne, and had a seat set for the king's mother; and she sat at his right hand.
20Then she said, I desire one small petition of you; please do not deny me. And the king said to her, Ask on, my mother, for I will not refuse you.
21And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother as his wife.
22And King Solomon answered and said to his mother, And why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also; for he is my elder brother—for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.
23Then King Solomon swore by the Lord, saying, God do so to me, and more, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life.
24Now therefore, as the Lord lives, who has established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house, as He promised, Adonijah shall be put to death today.
1Now the days of David grew near that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,
43And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily, our lord King David has made Solomon king.
37As the LORD has been with my lord the king, so may He be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.

46And also Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.
12Then the woman said, Let your maidservant, I pray you, speak one word to my lord the king. And he said, Speak on.
24David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her, and lay with her: she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.
10Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this your people, that is so great?
11Now, my son, the LORD be with you; and prosper you, and build the house of the LORD your God, as he has said of you.
6And Solomon said, You have shown to your servant David my father great mercy, as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you; and you have kept for him this great kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
17According to all these words and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David.
