20And Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a skin of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son to Saul.
12Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem in Judah, named Jesse, who had eight sons. Jesse was old in the days of Saul, advanced in years.
13The three eldest sons of Jesse followed Saul to the battle, and the names of his three sons who went were Eliab the firstborn, next to him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.
14David was the youngest; the three eldest followed Saul.
10Then came the word of the LORD to Samuel, saying,
6Let seven of his descendants be delivered to us, and we will hang them before the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD chose. And the king said, I will give them.

23And they ran and fetched him from there: and when he stood among the people, he was taller than any of the people from his shoulders upward.
24And Samuel said to all the people, Do you see him whom the LORD has chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, Long live the king.
22And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray you, stand before me, for he has found favor in my sight.
14And he did not inquire of the LORD. Therefore He killed him and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.

5And said to him, Behold, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
6But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed to the LORD.
7And the LORD said to Samuel, Listen to the voice of the people in all that they say to you: for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

14But now your kingdom shall not continue: the LORD has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the LORD has appointed him to be captain over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you.
15Then Samuel arose and went up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.
4However the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever: for he has chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he was pleased to make me king over all Israel:
5And of all my sons, (for the LORD has given me many sons,) he has chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
6And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. So Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here I am; for you did call me. And he answered, I did not call, my son; lie down again.
7Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed to him.
14And Samuel said, What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

31For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the ground, you shall not be established, nor your kingdom. Therefore now send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die.
