And you said to me, The word I have heard is good. 43 Why then have you not kept the oath of the Lord, and the commandment that I have charged you with? 44 The king said moreover to Shimei, You know all the wickedness which your heart knows very well, that you did to David my father; therefore the Lord will return your wickedness upon your own head. 45 And King Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord forever. 46 So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck him down and he died. And the kingdom was firmly established in the hand of Solomon.

    23Therefore the king said to Shimei, You shall not die. And the king swore to him.

    24And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came again in peace.

    25And it came to pass, when he came to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said to him, Why did you not go with me, Mephibosheth?
