3 That no one should be unsettled by these afflictions, for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this.
4 For truly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you know.
6 In which you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ:
6 And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit:
7 So that you became examples to all who believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
8 For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.
13 But rejoice, since you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love you have for all the saints,
11 Therefore, we also pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

10 But you have fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,
11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured. But out of them all the Lord delivered me.

2 But even after we had suffered before and were shamefully treated, as you know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God with much contention.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
5 Hearing of your love and faith, which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints;
6 That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
7 For we have great joy and solace in your love, because the hearts of the saints are refreshed by you, brother.

15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and love for all the saints,
12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.
24 Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy; for by faith you stand.
