He does not say, 'And to seeds,' as of many, but as of one, 'And to your seed,' which is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the covenant, which was confirmed before by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul, that it should make the promise of no effect. 18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise, but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 19 Why then serves the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the seed should come to whom the promise was made, and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, then truly righteousness would have been by the law.

Now that which decays and grows old is ready to vanish away.
  • Heb 9:15-24 : 15 And for this reason He is the mediator of the new covenant, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, those who are called may receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 16 For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is in effect after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. 18 Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled the book itself and all the people, 20 Saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you." 21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. 22 And almost all things are purified by the law with blood; and without shedding of blood there is no remission. 23 Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ has not entered into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
  • Heb 10:15-18 : 15 The Holy Spirit also is a witness to us; for after he had said before, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them, 17 And their sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more. 18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
