And every captain, and all who travel by ship, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood far off, 18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like this great city! 19 And they threw dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea were made rich by her wealth! for in one hour she is made desolate. 20 Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets; for God has avenged you on her. 21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. 22 And the sound of harpists, and musicians, and flutists, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in you; and no craftsman, of any craft, shall be found any more in you; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in you; 23 And the light of a lamp shall shine no more at all in you; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in you: for your merchants were the great men of the earth; for by your sorceries were all nations deceived. 24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth.

And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the carved images of her gods he has shattered to the ground. 10 O my threshing and the grain of my floor: that which I have heard from the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, I have declared to you.

They shall come upon you in their fullness for the multitude of your sorceries and for the great abundance of your enchantments. 10 For you have trusted in your wickedness; you have said, 'No one sees me.' Your wisdom and your knowledge have perverted you; and you have said in your heart, 'I am, and there is none else besides me.' 11 Therefore evil shall come upon you; you shall not know from where it rises. Trouble shall fall upon you; you shall not be able to put it off. Desolation shall come upon you suddenly, which you shall not know. 12 Stand now with your enchantments and with the multitude of your sorceries, in which you have labored from your youth. Perhaps you will be able to profit, perhaps you may prevail. 13 You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators stand up and save you from these things that shall come upon you. 14 Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them. They shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; there shall not be a coal to warm by, nor a fire to sit before. 15 Thus shall they be to you with whom you have labored, your merchants from your youth; they shall wander each one to his own quarter; none shall save you.
