- Gen 19:1-9 : 1 And two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and bowed himself with his face to the ground. 2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and spend the night, and wash your feet, and you shall rise early and go on your way. And they said, No; but we will stay in the street all night. 3 But he pressed upon them greatly, so they turned to him and entered his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. 4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter. 5 And they called to Lot, and said to him, Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them. 6 And Lot went out to them at the door, and shut the door after him. 7 And said, I pray you, brothers, do not do so wickedly. 8 Behold now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; let me, I pray you, bring them to you, and do to them as seems good in your eyes: only do nothing to these men; for they have come under the shadow of my roof. 9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one came here to stay, and he will act as a judge: now we will deal worse with you than with them. And they pressed hard against Lot, and came near to break the door. 10 But the men reached out their hands, pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. 11 And they struck the men at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they tired themselves trying to find the door. 12 And the men said to Lot, Do you have anyone else here? Son-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and anyone you have in the city, bring them out of this place. 13 For we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD has sent us to destroy it. 14 So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, Get up, get out of this place, for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed to his sons-in-law as one who mocked. 15 And when the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city. 16 And while he lingered, the men grabbed his hand, his wife's hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the LORD being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. 17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them out, that he said, Escape for your life; do not look behind you, nor stay anywhere in the plain; escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed. 18 And Lot said to them, Oh, not so, my Lord. 19 Behold now, your servant has found grace in your sight, and you have magnified your mercy, which you have shown to me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil overtake me and I die. 20 Look now, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape there, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. 21 And he said to him, See, I have accepted you in this matter also, that I will not overthrow this city for which you have spoken. 22 Hurry, escape there; for I cannot do anything until you arrive there. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. 23 The sun had risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. 24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven. 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. 26 But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. 27 And Abraham got up early in the morning and went to the place where he stood before the LORD. 28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and he saw, and behold, the smoke of the land went up like the smoke of a furnace. 29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the upheaval, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot dwelt.
- Gen 13:1-9 : 1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. 2 And Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. 3 And he traveled on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai; 4 To the place of the altar, which he had made there at first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD. 5 And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. 6 And the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together: for their possessions were great, so that they could not dwell together. 7 And there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land. 8 And Abram said to Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray you, between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. 9 Is not the whole land before you? separate yourself, I pray you, from me: if you will take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if you depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as you come to Zoar. 11 Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated from each other.
