But Joseph left his garment in her hand, ran away, and went outside. 13 When she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and fled outside, 14 she called her household servants and said to them, "Look, this Hebrew man has been brought to us to mock us! He came to me to lie with me, but I screamed loudly. 15 When he heard me raise my voice and scream, he left his garment beside me and ran outside." 16 She kept his garment beside her until his master came home. 17 Then she told him this story: "That Hebrew servant you brought to us came to mock me. 18 But when I raised my voice and screamed, he left his garment beside me and fled outside." 19 When his master heard the story that his wife told him, saying, "This is how your servant treated me," his anger burned. 20 So Joseph's master took him and put him in the prison where the king's prisoners were held, and he remained there. 21 But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him kindness, granting him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. 22 The warden put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners, and he was responsible for whatever happened there. 23 The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care, because the LORD was with him and gave him success in whatever he did.

May they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac. May they grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.' 17 When Joseph saw his father placing his right hand on Ephraim’s head, it displeased him; so he took hold of his father’s hand to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s. 18 Joseph said to his father, 'No, my father, this one is the firstborn; place your right hand on his head.' 19 But his father refused and said, 'I know, my son, I know. He too will become a people, and he too will be great. Nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his descendants will become a group of nations.' 20 On that day, he blessed them and said, 'By you, Israel will pronounce this blessing: May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh.' So he placed Ephraim ahead of Manasseh. 21 Then Israel said to Joseph, 'Look, I am about to die, but God will be with you and will bring you back to the land of your ancestors.' 22 And to you, I give one more portion than your brothers, the portion I took from the Amorites with my sword and bow.
