  • Matt 18:23-35 : 23 Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. 26 At this the servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.' 27 The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt, and let him go. 28 But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He seized him and began to choke him, saying, 'Pay back what you owe me!' 29 His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will repay you.' 30 But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened. 32 Then the master summoned the servant and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me to.' 33 'Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had mercy on you?' 34 In anger, his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured until he should pay back all he owed. 35 This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.

Give an account of your management, because you can no longer be manager.' 3 The manager said to himself, 'What shall I do, since my master is taking away my position? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg.' 4 'I know what I will do so that, when I am removed from my position, people will welcome me into their homes.' 5 So he called in each one of his master's debtors. He asked the first, 'How much do you owe my master?' 6 The man replied, 'A hundred measures of olive oil.' The manager told him, 'Take your bill, sit down quickly, and write fifty.' 7 Then he asked another, 'And how much do you owe?' The man replied, 'A hundred measures of wheat.' The manager told him, 'Take your bill and write eighty.' 8 The master praised the dishonest manager for acting shrewdly, because the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light. 9 And I tell you, make friends for yourselves using worldly wealth so that when it is gone, they will welcome you into eternal dwellings. 10 Whoever is faithful with very little is also faithful with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy with what belongs to someone else, who will give you what is truly yours? 13 No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

The one who judges me is the Lord. 5 Therefore, do not judge anything before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will disclose the motives of hearts. At that time, each person will receive praise from God.
