6 David then answered and said to Ahimelech the Hittite and to Abishai son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, "Who will go down with me to Saul in the camp?" Abishai said, "I will go down with you."
18 One of the young men answered, "I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is a valiant warrior, eloquent, and handsome, and the LORD is with him."
19 Then Saul sent messengers to Jesse, saying, "Send me your son David, who is with the sheep."

25 Saul replied, 'Say to David, "The king wants no other price for the bride than a hundred Philistine foreskins, to take revenge on his enemies."' Saul’s plan was to have David fall by the hands of the Philistines.

39 David strapped on his sword over the armor and tried to walk, but he was not used to them. He said to Saul, 'I cannot walk in these, for I have not tested them.' So David took them off.
8 Meanwhile, Abner son of Ner, the commander of Saul’s army, took Ish-bosheth son of Saul and brought him to Mahanaim.
