    10Saul said to his servant, "Good idea. Let’s go." So they set out for the town where the man of God was.

    11As they were climbing the hill to the town, they met young women coming out to draw water, and they asked them, "Is the seer here?"

    12They answered, "Yes, he is ahead of you. Hurry now; he has just come to the town today, for the people are offering a sacrifice at the high place."

    13As soon as you enter the city, you will find him before he goes up to the high place to eat. The people will not eat until he arrives because he must bless the sacrifice first. After that, those who have been invited can eat. Go now, for you will find him at this time.

    14So they went up to the city, and as they were entering it, Samuel was coming out toward them on his way up to the high place.

    15Now the LORD had revealed to Samuel the day before Saul came,

    14Saul asked her, "What does he look like?" She replied, "An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped in a robe." Then Saul knew it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground in reverence.

    15Samuel said to Saul, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?" Saul answered, "I am deeply distressed. The Philistines are waging war against me, and God has turned away from me. He no longer answers me, not by prophets or by dreams. Therefore, I have called upon you to tell me what I should do."

    26They got up early, and at the break of dawn, Samuel called to Saul on the roof, saying, "Get up, and I will send you on your way." So Saul got up, and both he and Samuel went outside together.

    27As they were going down to the outskirts of the town, Samuel said to Saul, "Tell the servant to go on ahead of us"—and the servant went on—"but you stay here for a moment, and I will give you a message from God."

    11The king sent for Ahimelech the priest, son of Ahitub, and his entire family, who were the priests at Nob, and they all came to the king.

    12Saul said, 'Listen now, son of Ahitub!' And he replied, 'Here I am, my lord.'

    11Then the woman asked, "Whom shall I bring up for you?" Saul answered, "Bring up Samuel for me."

    12When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice and said to Saul, "Why have you deceived me? You are Saul!"

  • 5After that, you will come to the hill of God, where there are Philistine garrisons. As you approach the town, you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with harp, tambourine, flute, and lyre before them, and they will be prophesying.

  • 6But the servant replied, "Look, there is a man of God in this town, and he is highly respected. Everything he says comes true. Let’s go there now; perhaps he can tell us the way to go."
