    12Saul said, 'Listen now, son of Ahitub!' And he replied, 'Here I am, my lord.'

    13Saul said to him, 'Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, giving him bread and a sword and inquiring of God for him, so that he has risen against me to lie in wait, as he does today?'

    14Ahimelech answered the king, 'Who among all your servants is as faithful as David, the king's son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard, and highly respected in your house?'

    15Was this the first time I inquired of God for him? Of course not! Far be it from me! Let not the king accuse me or any of my father's family, for your servant knows nothing about this whole affair—whether great or small.'

    16The king said, 'You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and your whole family.'

    17Then the king ordered the guards standing by him, 'Turn and kill the priests of the Lord, because they are allies of David. They knew he was fleeing but didn’t inform me.' But the king's servants were unwilling to raise their hands to strike the priests of the Lord.

    35'Aren’t Zadok and Abiathar the priests with you? Whatever you hear in the king’s palace, tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.'

    36Look, their two sons, Ahimaaz, the son of Zadok, and Jonathan, the son of Abiathar, are there with them. Send me everything you hear through them.

    10David said, "LORD, God of Israel, your servant has certainly heard that Saul intends to come to Keilah and destroy the city because of me.

    11Will the leaders of Keilah hand me over to him? Will Saul come down as your servant has heard? LORD, God of Israel, please tell your servant." And the LORD answered, "He will come down."

    12Then David said, 'Will the leaders of Keilah hand me and my men over to Saul?' The LORD replied, 'They will hand you over.'

  • 16Now, send word quickly to David, saying, 'Do not spend the night in the wilderness near the fords. Cross over immediately, or the king and all the people with him may be swallowed up.'

  • 8Ask your servants, and they will confirm this. Therefore, may my men find favor in your eyes, because we have come on a festive day. Please give whatever you can spare to your servants and to your son, David.’"
