11The next morning, the word of the Lord came to Gad the prophet, David's seer, saying,

12three years of famine, three months of fleeing from your enemies while they pursue you, or three days of the sword of the LORD—pestilence in the land, with the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the territory of Israel.’ Now decide how I should answer the One who sent me."
13David said to Gad, "I am in deep distress. Let me fall into the hands of the LORD, for His mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into human hands."
9The LORD then spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying,
17David said to God, "Was it not I who gave the command to count the people? I am the one who has sinned and acted wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? LORD my God, let Your hand fall on me and my family, but do not let this plague remain on Your people."
18Then the angel of the LORD ordered Gad to tell David to go up and build an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19So David went up in obedience to the word that Gad had spoken in the name of the LORD.
3David asked the Gibeonites, "What can I do for you? How can I make atonement so that you may bless the Lord’s inheritance?"
3Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you are to do. You are to anoint for me the one I indicate to you.
2So David asked the LORD, saying, "Should I go and attack these Philistines?" The LORD answered David, "Go and attack the Philistines and save Keilah."
10David inquired of God, saying, "Should I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?" The LORD replied, "Go up, and I will deliver them into your hand."
18That day, Gad came to David and said to him, "Go up and build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite."
19So David went up, as the Lord had commanded through Gad.
22David said to Ornan, "Let me have the site of your threshing floor so I can build an altar to the LORD on it. Sell it to me at the full price, so the plague on the people may be stopped."
23Ornan replied to David, "Take it! Let my lord the king do whatever pleases him. Look, I will give the oxen for burnt offerings, the threshing sledges for wood, and the wheat for the grain offering—I give it all."
7Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.
18Now do it! For the Lord has promised David, 'By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel from the Philistines and from all their enemies.’'
32King David said, "Call Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada to me." When they came before the king,
19Now, may my lord the king please hear the words of his servant. If the LORD has incited you against me, may He accept an offering. But if men have done it, may they be cursed before the LORD, because they have driven me out today to prevent me from having a share in the LORD's inheritance, saying, 'Go, serve other gods.'
9David asked Ahimelech, 'Don’t you have a spear or a sword here? I haven’t brought my sword or any other weapon, because the king’s mission was urgent.'
10I will transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul and establish David's throne over Israel and Judah, from Dan to Beersheba.
17The LORD has done as he spoke through me. He has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, to David.
7Now then, tell my servant David: 'This is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people Israel.
10David said, "LORD, God of Israel, your servant has certainly heard that Saul intends to come to Keilah and destroy the city because of me.
11Will the leaders of Keilah hand me over to him? Will Saul come down as your servant has heard? LORD, God of Israel, please tell your servant." And the LORD answered, "He will come down."
37I will take you, and you will reign over all that your heart desires, and you will be king over Israel.
4So David inquired of the LORD again, and the LORD answered him, "Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will give the Philistines into your hand."
19David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Should I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?" The LORD said to David, "Go up, for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand."
8Go down ahead of me to Gilgal, and I will come to you to offer burnt offerings and sacrifices of peace offerings. You must wait seven days until I come to you and show you what you are to do.
19Then Saul sent messengers to Jesse, saying, "Send me your son David, who is with the sheep."
13Now here is the king you have chosen, the one you asked for. See, the LORD has set a king over you.
8Ask your servants, and they will confirm this. Therefore, may my men find favor in your eyes, because we have come on a festive day. Please give whatever you can spare to your servants and to your son, David.’"
2David went to Nob to Ahimelech the priest. Ahimelech trembled when he met David and said to him, 'Why are you alone? Why is no one with you?'
3Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart, for the LORD is with you."
3But that same night, the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
5At Gibeon, the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream during the night, and God said, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you."
8Now therefore, this is what you shall say to my servant David: Thus says the LORD of hosts: I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people Israel.
20And what more can David say to you? For you know your servant, O Lord GOD.
21Because of your word and according to your own heart, you have done all this great thing to make your servant know it.
7If he says, 'Good,' it will mean peace for your servant. But if he is very angry, know that he has determined harm.
2David divided the troops into three groups: one-third under Joab, one-third under Abishai son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, and one-third under Ittai the Gittite. Then the king said to the troops, 'I will also go into battle with you.'
5"Go and tell my servant David, 'Thus says the LORD: Is it you who would build me a house to dwell in?
17Nathan spoke all these words and this entire vision to David.
10Samuel relayed all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king.
2So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army, "Go and count the people of Israel from Beersheba to Dan, and report back to me so that I may know their number."
