    4 The king ordered Hilkiah the high priest, the priests of the second rank, and the gatekeepers to bring out of the temple of the Lord all the objects made for Baal, Asherah, and all the host of heaven. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron and scattered their ashes on the graves of the people.

    15 Even the altar at Bethel, the high place that Jeroboam son of Nebat had made, the one who caused Israel to sin—even that altar and the high place he tore down. He burned the high place, crushed it to dust, and burned the Asherah pole that was there.

    16 Josiah turned, saw the graves that were on the hill, and sent men to take the bones from the graves. He burned them on the altar and defiled it according to the word of the LORD, as the man of God had proclaimed, who had foretold these things.

    17 He asked, 'What is this monument that I see?’ The men of the city replied, 'It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and proclaimed these things that you have done to the altar at Bethel.'

    18 He said, 'Leave it alone; let no one disturb his bones.' So they spared his bones, along with the bones of the prophet who had come from Samaria.

    19 Josiah also removed all the shrines on the high places in the towns of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the LORD to anger. He did to them just as he had done at Bethel.

    23 But in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, this Passover was celebrated to the LORD in Jerusalem.

    24 Josiah also removed the mediums, spiritists, household idols, images, and all the detestable things that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. He did this to fulfill the words of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the house of the LORD.
