    28The king of the North will return to his land with great wealth, but his heart will be set against the holy covenant. He will take action and then return to his own land.

    29At the appointed time, he will invade the South again, but this time it will not be as it was before.

    30Ships from the western coastlands will oppose him, and he will lose heart. Then he will turn back and vent his anger against the holy covenant. He will return and show favor to those who forsake the holy covenant.

    31Forces from him will rise up and desecrate the sanctuary fortress. They will abolish the daily sacrifice and set up the abomination of desolation.

  • 2Many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, but others to shame and everlasting contempt.

  • 14Therefore, I will again do extraordinary things with this people, with wonder upon wonder. The wisdom of their wise will perish, and the understanding of their discerning will vanish.

  • 44But reports from the east and the north will trouble him, and he will set out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many.

  • 9I will trouble the hearts of many peoples when I bring about your ruin among the nations, in lands you do not know.

  • 29The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the blameless, but it is ruin to evildoers.

  • 21But as for those whose hearts follow their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their conduct down upon their own heads, declares the Lord God.

  • 3Therefore, a strong people will glorify you; cities of ruthless nations will fear you.

  • 25He will speak words against the Most High, oppress the holy ones of the Most High, and plan to change times and laws. The holy ones will be handed over to him for a time, times, and half a time.
