    16As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, in the place where the king who made him king resides—whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke—there in Babylon he will die.

    17Pharaoh and his mighty army and great company will not help him in battle, when mounds are heaped up and siege walls are built to destroy many people.

    14Will your heart stand firm? Will your hands be strong when I deal with you? I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it.

    12oppresses the poor and needy, commits robbery, does not restore a pledge, looks to idols, and does detestable things,

    13He lends at interest and takes a profit. Will such a person live? He will not! Because he has committed all these abominations, he will surely be put to death, and his blood will be on his own head.

    14Now suppose this person has a son who sees all the sins his father has committed. Though he sees them, he does not do such things:

  • 31Because they have despised the word of the Lord and broken His commandment, they must be cut off completely. Their guilt remains on them.

    22Then the armed forces shall be swept away before him and broken, including the prince of the covenant.

    23After an alliance is made with him, he will act deceitfully. He will rise to power with only a few people.

  • 20Again, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and does wrong, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die in his sin. His righteous acts will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

  • 15Because you have said, 'We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have made an agreement. When the overwhelming scourge passes through, it will not reach us, for we have made lies our refuge and falsehood our hiding place.'
