  • Zech 13:2-4 : 2 On that day, declares the LORD of hosts, I will remove the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered. Moreover, I will eliminate the false prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land. 3 If anyone still prophesies on that day, his father and mother—those who gave birth to him—will say to him, ‘You must die, because you have spoken lies in the name of the LORD.’ Then his parents, who brought him into the world, will pierce him through when he prophesies. 4 On that day, every prophet will be ashamed of their visions when they prophesy. They will no longer wear a cloak of hair to deceive.
  • Jer 14:13-16 : 13 But I said, "Ah, Sovereign LORD, the prophets are telling them, 'You will not see the sword or suffer famine, but I will give you lasting peace in this place.'" 14 The LORD said to me: "The prophets are prophesying lies in My name. I did not send them, command them, or speak to them. They are seeing false visions, giving worthless divinations and deceitful messages from their own hearts. 15 Therefore, this is what the LORD says about the prophets who prophesy in My name, though I did not send them, and who declare, 'No sword or famine will touch this land': By sword and famine, those prophets will meet their end. 16 And the people to whom they are prophesying will be thrown into the streets of Jerusalem because of famine and sword. There will be no one to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters. I will pour out their wickedness upon them.
  • Jer 23:14-29 : 14 And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: They commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns from their wickedness. They have all become to Me like Sodom, and the inhabitants like Gomorrah. 15 Therefore, this is what the LORD of Hosts says concerning the prophets: Behold, I will make them eat bitter wormwood and drink poisoned water, because from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land. 16 This is what the LORD of Hosts says: Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They are filling you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD. 17 They keep saying to those who despise the LORD, ‘The LORD says you will have peace.’ And to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his heart they say, ‘No harm will come to you.’ 18 For who has stood in the council of the LORD to see and hear His word? Who has paid attention to His word and obeyed it? 19 Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone forth in wrath, a whirlwind swirling down upon the heads of the wicked. 20 The anger of the LORD will not turn back until He has fully accomplished the purposes of His heart. In the days to come, you will clearly understand it. 21 I did not send these prophets, yet they ran. I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied. 22 But if they had stood in My council, they would have proclaimed My words to My people and turned them back from their evil ways and deeds. 23 Am I only a God nearby, declares the LORD, and not a God far away? 24 Can anyone hide in secret places where I cannot see him? declares the LORD. Do I not fill the heavens and the earth? declares the LORD. 25 I have heard what the prophets who prophesy falsely in My name are saying: 'I have dreamed! I have dreamed!' 26 How long will this continue in the hearts of the prophets who prophesy falsehood, these prophets of deceit in their own hearts? 27 They plan to make My people forget My name through their dreams, which they tell to one another, just as their fathers forgot My name because of Baal. 28 Let the prophet who has a dream recount his dream, but let the one who has My word speak it faithfully. For what is straw compared to grain? declares the LORD. 29 Is not My word like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that shatters a rock?
