16Then I said to the priests and all this people: This is what the LORD says: Do not listen to the words of your prophets who are prophesying to you, saying, ‘The articles of the LORD’s house will soon be returned from Babylon.’ They are prophesying lies to you.
17Do not listen to them. Instead, serve the king of Babylon and live. Why should this city become a ruin?

15Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah, 'Listen now, Hananiah, the LORD has not sent you, but you have led this people to trust in falsehood.'
10They say to the seers, 'See no more visions!' and to the prophets, 'Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions.'
19Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, 'The king of Babylon will not come against you or this land'?
2For the household idols speak deceit, and the diviners see false visions. They tell deceitful dreams and offer empty comfort. Therefore, the people wander like sheep, oppressed because they have no shepherd.

9This is what the LORD says: Do not deceive yourselves, thinking, 'The Chaldeans will surely leave us,' for they will not leave.
28Her prophets plaster false visions for them, prophesying lies and saying, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says,’ when the LORD has not spoken.

7Seek the welfare of the city where I have exiled you and pray to the LORD on its behalf, because its welfare determines your welfare.
5You must follow the LORD your God, fear Him, keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him.
14The visions of your prophets were false and empty; they did not expose your iniquity to restore your fortunes. Instead, they saw false and misleading oracles for you.
4Do not trust deceitful words, saying: ‘This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD.’
8But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.
31The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority. And My people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?
15Because you have said, 'The LORD has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,'
16this is what the LORD says to the king who sits on David's throne and to all the people who remain in this city—your own brothers who were not taken with you into exile—
6He said, 'Listen to My words: When there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, reveal Myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams.
