    23Do I take pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?

    24But if a righteous person turns away from their righteousness and commits sin, doing the same detestable things the wicked do, will they live? None of the righteous deeds they have done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die.

    12Therefore, son of man, say to your people, 'The righteousness of the righteous person will not save them on the day of their transgression, nor will the wickedness of the wicked person cause them to fall on the day they turn from their wickedness. The righteous person cannot live by their righteousness on the day they sin.'

    13If I say to the righteous person, 'You will surely live,' but they trust in their righteousness and commit iniquity, none of their righteous acts will be remembered. They will die because of the iniquity they have committed.

    14And if I say to the wicked person, 'You will surely die,' but they turn from their sin and do what is just and right—

    15if they return what they took in pledge for a loan, restore anything they have stolen, and follow the decrees that give life, doing no wrong—they will surely live; they will not die.

    16None of the sins they have committed will be remembered against them. They have done what is just and right; they will surely live.

    17Yet your people say, 'The way of the Lord is not just.' But it is their way that is not just.

    18If a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits iniquity, they will die because of it.

    19But if a wicked person turns away from their wickedness and does what is just and right, they will live because of it.

    27But if a wicked person turns away from the wickedness they have committed and does what is just and right, they will save their life.

    28Because they consider all the offenses they have committed and turn away from them, they will surely live; they will not die.

    29Yet the house of Israel says, 'The way of the Lord is not just.' Are my ways unjust, house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?

    13He lends at interest and takes a profit. Will such a person live? He will not! Because he has committed all these abominations, he will surely be put to death, and his blood will be on his own head.

    14Now suppose this person has a son who sees all the sins his father has committed. Though he sees them, he does not do such things:

  • 20Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.

  • 18You are to follow my statutes and observe my ordinances and carry them out, so that you may live securely in the land.

  • 21But if you warn a righteous person not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he heeded the warning, and you will have saved yourself.

  • 15The one who walks in righteousness, speaks what is right, rejects gain from extortion, shakes his hands to refuse bribes, stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes from looking at evil.

  • 4'And as for you, if you walk before Me faithfully, as your father David did, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing all I have commanded you and keeping My statutes and judgments,

  • 7The righteous person walks in their integrity; blessed are their children after them.

  • 20Then they will follow My statutes, keep My judgments, and carry them out. They will be My people, and I will be their God.

  • 10Son of man, say to the house of Israel, 'This is what you are saying: Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?'

  • 16As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, in the place where the king who made him king resides—whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke—there in Babylon he will die.
