38Instead, you must go to my father's household and to my family to take a wife for my son.'
39Then I said to my master, 'What if the woman does not come back with me?'
40He answered me, 'The Lord, before whom I have walked, will send His angel with you and make your journey successful, so that you can take a wife for my son from my family and my father's household.
41'You will be released from my oath if you go to my family and they refuse to give her to you. Then you will be free from my oath.'
10Then Abraham reached out his hand, took the knife, and prepared to slaughter his son.
11But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven, 'Abraham! Abraham!' And he replied, 'Here I am.'
12The angel said, 'Do not lay a hand on the boy. Do not harm him in any way, for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.'
23Now swear to me here before God that you will not deal falsely with me, my children, or my descendants. Show to me and the land where you have lived the same kindness I have shown to you.
24Abraham said, 'I swear it.'
5Abraham said to his servants, 'Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there to worship, and then we will come back to you.'
2The LORD appeared to him and said, "Do not go down to Egypt. Stay in the land that I will show you.

34For how can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? I could not bear to see the misery that would come upon my father.
15Then the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven,
16and said, 'By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,
32For your servant took responsibility for the boy before my father, saying, 'If I do not bring him back to you, then I shall bear the blame before my father all my life.'
38But Jacob said, 'My son will not go down there with you, for his brother is dead, and he alone is left. If harm comes to him on the journey you are taking, you will bring my gray head down to the grave in sorrow.'
3But I took your ancestor Abraham from beyond the Euphrates River, led him throughout the land of Canaan, and gave him many descendants. I gave him Isaac.
30So now, if I come to your servant, my father, and the boy is not with us—since his life is so closely bound up with the boy's life—
16When the men got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom, and Abraham walked with them to see them off.
1The Lord said to Abram, "Go forth from your land, your birthplace, and your father's household to the land that I will show you."
24That night the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for the sake of My servant Abraham."
