  • Isa 60:1-61:3 : 1 Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. 2 For behold, darkness will cover the earth, and thick darkness the nations, but the Lord will arise upon you, and His glory will be seen upon you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. 4 Lift up your eyes and look around: they all gather together; they come to you. Your sons will come from far away, and your daughters will be carried on the hip. 5 Then you will see and be radiant, your heart will tremble and swell with joy, because the wealth of the sea will be brought to you, and the riches of the nations will come to you. 6 A multitude of camels will cover you, the young camels of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba will come. They will bring gold and frankincense and will proclaim the praises of the Lord. 7 All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered to you; the rams of Nebaioth will serve you; they will go up with acceptance on my altar, and I will glorify the house of my splendor. 8 Who are these flying like a cloud, and like doves to their windows? 9 Surely the coastlands will wait for me; the ships of Tarshish will come first, bringing your sons from afar, their silver and gold with them, for the name of the Lord your God, and for the Holy One of Israel, because He has glorified you. 10 Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you; for though I struck you in my wrath, I will show you compassion in my favor. 11 Your gates will always be open; they will never be shut, day or night, so that the wealth of the nations may be brought to you, and their kings led in procession. 12 For any nation or kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations will be utterly ruined. 13 The glory of Lebanon will come to you—cypress, pine, and box tree together—to beautify the place of my sanctuary, and I will glorify the place of my feet. 14 The children of those who oppressed you will come and bow down before you; all who despised you will bow at your feet. They will call you the City of the Lord, Zion of the Holy One of Israel. 15 Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, with no one passing through, I will make you an everlasting pride, a joy of all generations. 16 You will suck the milk of nations; you will nurse at royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. 17 Instead of bronze I will bring gold, and instead of iron I will bring silver; instead of wood, bronze; and instead of stones, iron. I will make your overseers peace and your rulers righteousness. 18 Violence will no longer be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders. You will name your walls Salvation and your gates Praise. 19 The sun will no longer be your light by day, nor the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. 20 Your sun will no longer set, and your moon will not wane; for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning will come to an end. 21 Your people will all be righteous; they will inherit the land forever— the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, for my glory. 22 The least of you will become a thousand, and the smallest one a mighty nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time. 1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners. 2 To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of our God’s vengeance, to comfort all who mourn. 3 To provide for those who mourn in Zion—giving them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a spirit of faintness. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord to display His splendor.
  • Heb 6:17-18 : 17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of the promise, He guaranteed it with an oath. 18 So that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.
