They will become an object of cursing and astonishment, a curse and a reproach.
13And I will punish those who live in the land of Egypt as I punished Jerusalem, with the sword, famine, and pestilence.
14None of the remnant of Judah who have come to live as foreigners in the land of Egypt will escape or survive to return to the land of Judah. They are longing to return to live there, but none will return except a few fugitives.
15Then all the men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other gods answered Jeremiah, along with all the women standing there in a large assembly, and all the people living in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, saying:
16The word you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD, we will not listen to you.
2Thus says the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel: You have seen all the disaster I brought upon Jerusalem and upon all the cities of Judah. Look, they are a ruin today, without anyone living there.
15Now therefore hear the word of the LORD, remnant of Judah. This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: If you are determined to go to Egypt and settle there,

29This will be the sign to you,’ declares the LORD, ‘that I will punish you in this place so that you may know that my words will surely stand against you for harm:
30This is what the LORD says: Behold, I will hand Pharaoh Hophra, king of Egypt, over to his enemies who want to kill him, just as I handed Zedekiah, king of Judah, over to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, his enemy who sought his life.

2The captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him, 'The LORD your God foretold this calamity against this place.'
12Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:
1These are the words of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the remaining elders of the exile, the priests, the prophets, and all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

11When all the Jews in Moab, Ammon, Edom, and all the other lands heard that the king of Babylon had allowed a remnant to remain in Judah and had appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan as governor over them,

15While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him saying,
