9After marching all night from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise.
10And the LORD threw them into panic before Israel, and Joshua and his forces inflicted a great defeat on them at Gibeon. They pursued them along the road to the Beth-horon ascent and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah.
11As they fled before Israel down the road from Beth-horon to Azekah, the LORD hurled large hailstones down on them from heaven, and they died. More of them died from the hailstones than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.
13Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua approached him and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?"
1The LORD spoke to Joshua, saying:
41Joshua struck them from Kadesh-barnea to Gaza, and the entire region of Goshen as far as Gibeon.
42Joshua captured all these kings and their lands at one time because the LORD, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
7The LORD said to Joshua, 'Today I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, so that they may know that just as I was with Moses, I will be with you.'
8'And you are to command the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: When you reach the edge of the waters of the Jordan, stand in the Jordan.'
9Joshua said to the Israelites, 'Come here and listen to the words of the LORD your God.'
7Joshua said, "Alas, Sovereign Lord, why did you bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!
8Pardon me, O Lord, what can I say now that Israel has turned its back and fled from its enemies?
10The Lord said to Joshua, "Stand up! Why are you down on your face?
6The LORD said to Joshua, 'Do not be afraid of them, for by this time tomorrow I will deliver all of them slain before Israel. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots in the fire.'
7So Joshua and all his warriors came against them suddenly at the waters of Merom and attacked them.
1When all the kings of the Amorites west of the Jordan and all the kings of the Canaanites by the sea heard how the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan to allow the Israelites to cross, their hearts melted, and they lost all courage because of the Israelites.
25Then Joshua said to them, 'Do not be afraid or discouraged. Be strong and courageous, for this is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you fight against.'
10But Joshua had commanded the people, 'Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, and do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!'
27At sunset, Joshua ordered them to be taken down from the trees and thrown into the cave where they had hidden. Large stones were placed over the opening of the cave, which remain there to this day.
1When all the people had finished crossing the Jordan, the LORD said to Joshua,
13So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the sword.
13The people positioned all the camp to the north of the city, while a rear guard was placed to the west of the city. That night, Joshua went into the valley.
10So Joshua did as Moses had said to him and fought against Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
6The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
9Joshua also set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, under the place where the priests carrying the ark of the covenant stood, and they are there to this day.
1A long time later, after the LORD had given rest to Israel from all their enemies around them, Joshua had grown old and was advanced in years.
