13 So the Israelites sent Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in the land of Gilead.

26 That is why we said, ‘Let us build an altar—not for burnt offerings or sacrifices,
28 And we said, ‘If they ever say this to us or to our descendants, we will answer: Look at the replica of the altar of the LORD, which our ancestors built—not for burnt offerings or sacrifices, but as a witness between us and you.’
29 Far be it from us to rebel against the LORD and turn away from Him today by building an altar for burnt offerings, grain offerings, and sacrifices other than the altar of the LORD our God that stands in front of His tabernacle.
30 Phinehas the priest, the leaders of the congregation, and the heads of the clans of Israel who were with him heard the words spoken by the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the Manassites, and they were pleased.
31 Then Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, said to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the Manassites, 'Today we know that the LORD is among us because you have not committed this act of treachery against Him. Instead, you have rescued the Israelites from the LORD's hand.'

33 The Israelites were pleased with the report, and they praised God. They no longer talked about going to war against them to destroy the land where the Reubenites and the Gadites lived.
34 And the Reubenites and the Gadites named the altar 'A Witness Between Us that the LORD is God.'
12 To the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said:
1 Then Joshua called the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
1 The sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had a very large amount of livestock. When they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, they noticed that the place was suitable for livestock.
2 The sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, Eleazar the priest, and the leaders of the congregation, saying:
19 If, however, the land of your possession is unclean, then come over to the land the LORD possesses, where the LORD's tabernacle stands, and settle among us. But do not rebel against the LORD or against us by building an altar for yourselves other than the altar of the LORD our God.
14 For the tribe of the Reubenites by their ancestral clans, the tribe of the Gadites by their ancestral clans, and half the tribe of Manasseh have taken their inheritance.
15 These two and a half tribes have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan, east of Jericho, toward the sunrise.
29 Moses said to them, "If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben cross the Jordan with you, every man armed for battle before the Lord, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead as a possession.
30 But if they do not cross over armed with you, they must take their possession among you in the land of Canaan."
31 The sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answered, "As the Lord has said to your servants, so we will do.
32 We will cross over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, but the possession of our inheritance will be on this side of the Jordan."
1 Then the Israelites traveled and camped in the plains of Moab, across the Jordan River near Jericho.
16 To the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the land extending from Gilead to the Arnon Valley, with the valley as the border, as far as the Jabbok River, the border of the Ammonites.

8 So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, as the LORD had told Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites. They carried them over with them to their camp and set them down there.
4 The next day the people rose early, built an altar there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.
5 They said, "If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Do not make us cross the Jordan."
6 But Moses replied to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, "Should your brothers go to war while you stay here?
33 He took land east of the Jordan—all the land of Gilead, the territory of Gad, Reuben, and Manasseh—from Aroer by the Arnon Gorge through Gilead and Bashan.
7 The Levites will not have a portion among you, because the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance. Gad, Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh have already received their inheritance east of the Jordan, which Moses, the servant of the LORD, gave them.
8 The other half-tribe, along with the Reubenites and the Gadites, has already received the inheritance that Moses gave them beyond the Jordan to the east, as the servant of the LORD had assigned to them.
12 At that time, we took possession of this land, from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Valley, and half of the hill country of Gilead with its towns, and I gave them to the Reubenites and the Gadites.
22 You are to let your children know: 'Israel crossed the Jordan here on dry ground.'
34 The sons of Gad built Dibon, Ataroth, and Aroer—
37 From the tribe of Asher, there were 40,000 experienced warriors ready for battle.
8 Therefore, keep the words of this covenant and do them, so that you may prosper in all that you do.
30 Are these mountains not across the Jordan, westward, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, near the oaks of Moreh?
